The tournament consists of 15 teams, with the winner representing Cavan in the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship.
The championship starts with a league stage and then progresses to a knock out stage.
Laragh United won the championship, beating Belturbet in the final. [1]

All 15 teams enter the competition at this stage. A random draw determines which teams face each other in each of the four rounds. No team can meet each other twice in the group stage. The top eight teams go into a seeded draw for the Quarter-Finals while the bottom four teams will enter a Relegation Playoff.

The bottom four teams in the league phase will play off against each other. The two winners will maintain their intermediate status for 2019, while the two losers will face off in a relegation final. The ultimate loser will be relegated to the 2020 Junior Championship.

County Cavan is a county in Ireland. It is in the province of Ulster and is part of the Northern and Western Region. It is named after the town of Cavan and is based on the historic Gaelic territory of East Breffny (Bréifne). Cavan County Council is the local authority for the county, which had a population of 81,201 at the 2022 census.
The Cavan Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the middle-tier Gaelic football clubs organised by Cavan GAA. It was first competed for in 1915, before a lapse prior to being revived in 1966. The winners qualify to represent their county in the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship. The 2023 champions are Ballyhaisewho beat Denn in the final.
