Stefanos Tsitsipas is a Greek professional tennis player. He has been ranked as high as world No. 3 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), which he first achieved on 9 August 2021, making him the highest-ranked Greek player in history alongside Maria Sakkari.
Novak Djokovic defeated Kevin Anderson in the final, 6–2, 6–2, 7–6(7–3) to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. It was his fourth Wimbledon title and 13th major title overall, passing Roy Emerson to outright fourth place on the all time men's singles major wins list. The win was also Djokovic's first title in over 12 months, his previous win having been at Eastbourne on July 1, 2017, and returned him to the top 10 in the rankings. The competition was contested by all but one of the top 20 male players at the time. Incidentally, this was the first and only time that an incumbent President and Vice President of the ATP Player Council faced each other in a final.

Karen Khachanov defeated Novak Djokovic in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the singles tennis title at the 2018 Paris Masters. It was Khachanov's first Masters 1000 title, and he saved two match points en route, in his third round match against John Isner.

It was his record-breaking seventh Australian Open title and 15th major title overall, surpassing Pete Sampras for third place on the all-time list. Djokovic and Nadal were both in contention for the world No. 1 singles ranking; Djokovic retained the top ranking by reaching the fourth round. Nadal was attempting to become the first man in the Open Era to achieve a double career Grand Slam, a feat he would achieve three years later.

At four hours and 57 minutes in length, it was the longest singles final in Wimbledon history. It was Djokovic's fifth Wimbledon title and 16th major title overall. Djokovic became the first man since Bob Falkenburg in 1948 to win the title after being championship points down, having saved two when down 7–8 in the fifth set. This was the first time since the 2004 French Open that a man saved championship points in order to win a major. Djokovic became the second man and third singles player overall to win multiple major titles after saving match point during the tournament, after Rod Laver and Serena Williams. Conversely, this was the third time that an opponent of Federer saved match points and went on to win the major, following Marat Safin in the 2005 Australian Open and Djokovic in the 2011 US Open.

Nadal's victory meant that every major title since the beginning of 2017 had been won by either himself (5), Novak Djokovic (4) or Roger Federer (3). This was the first time since 2006–08 that Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal had claimed all four major singles titles in three consecutive years.

The 2019 Mubadala World Tennis Championship was a non-ATP/WTA-affiliated exhibition tennis tournament. It was the 12th edition of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship with the world's top players competing in the event, held in a knockout format. The winner received $250,000 prize money. The event was held at the International Tennis Centre at the Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It served as a warm-up event for the season, with the ATP World Tour beginning on January 3, 2020.

It became the second tournament at which Nadal had earned 12 or more victories, after the French Open. At three hours and 38 minutes, the final match was at the time the longest best-of-three-sets tour-level final since the ATP began tracking statistics in 1991, until the 2023 Cincinnati Masters final. Tsitsipas, who had also lost to Nadal in his first career ATP singles final at this tournament in 2018, was in contention to win his first ATP 500 tournament title on his seventh attempt.

It was his second French Open title and 19th major title overall. With this victory, he became the first man to achieve the double career Grand Slam in the Open Era, and the first player in the Open Era to win a major after coming back from two sets to love down in two matches during the same major. Tsitsipas became the first Greek player to reach a major final. It also marked the second consecutive year a man trailed by two sets in a major final yet rallied to win, following Dominic Thiem's victory at the 2020 US Open.

It was his record-extending 14th French Open title and record-extending 22nd major title overall. It marked the first time in his career that he won the Australian Open and the French Open in the same calendar year. Nadal also became the third man to defeat four top 10 players en route to a major title since the introduction of ATP rankings in 1973. Ruud became the first Norwegian man to reach a major quarterfinal and beyond, and the first Scandinavian man to do so since Robin Söderling in 2010.

It was his third Monte-Carlo Masters title and eleventh ATP Tour singles title. Tsitsipas became the fifth player in the Open Era to win three titles at the tournament, after Ilie Năstase (3), Björn Borg (3), Thomas Muster (3) and Rafael Nadal (11).
