Like in 2018, the tournament featured 4 teams. Argentina XV and Uruguay remained from the previous year, with Namibia and Russia returning to the competition after not participating in 2018. [1]

Hosts Uruguay won the tournament for the third year in a row, having triumphed in 2017 and 2018.

As of 2023 this is the most recent edition of the World Rugby Nations Cup to take place. [2]

The Americas Rugby Championship, often informally called the Americas' Six Nations, was an annual international rugby tournament between six North and South American nations: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, the United States and Uruguay. For qualification purposes, the two Americas regions Rugby Americas North and Sudamérica Rugby formed the Americas region to compete for the two Americas berths in the World Cup.

The 2016 World Rugby Americas Pacific Challenge was the inaugural rugby union tournament created by World Rugby for national 'A' teams to develop home grown talent for their national test sides.

The 2017 World Rugby Nations Cup was the twelfth edition of the World Rugby Nations Cup rugby union tournament, created by World Rugby. It was the first ever tournament to be played outside of Romania and without their national team, with Uruguay hosting the competition.

Professor Esteban Meneses, is an Argentine rugby union head coach and former player. He is in charge of the Portugal national team.
