The Caribbean Series, also called Caribbean World Series, is the highest tournament for professional baseball teams in Latin America. The tournament location is rotated annually among the countries and is normally played in February after all of the leagues have ended their national tournaments.
The World Baseball Classic (WBC) is an international baseball tournament sanctioned from 2006 to 2013 by the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and after 2013 by World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) in partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB). It was proposed to the IBAF by Major League Baseball (MLB), the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA), and other professional baseball leagues and their players associations around the world. It is one of the two main senior baseball tournaments sanctioned by the WBSC, but the only one which grants to the winner the title of "World Champion".

The team is currently ranked 5th in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. Team USA won the Olympic baseball tournament in 2000, and the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in 2017.
The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League is a professional baseball winter league consisting of six teams spread across the Dominican Republic; it is the highest level of professional baseball played in the Dominican Republic. The league's players include many prospects that go on to play Major League Baseball in the United States while also signing many current MLB veterans. The champion of LIDOM advances to play in the yearly Caribbean Series.
The 2006 World Baseball Classic championship was the inaugural final of the World Baseball Classic played on March 20, 2006 at Petco Park in San Diego, United States. The best-of-one final was the match to determine the first world champion in baseball. Although this was the first iteration of the World Baseball Classic, both Cuba and Japan were favorites to win the championship, as they were the only countries to have appeared in the top four at every iteration in the Summer Olympics up to this final. Japan won by 4 runs to claim the first championship of the World Baseball Classic.
The Dominican Republic national baseball team is the national baseball team of the Dominican Republic. The team has won the Baseball World Cup in 1948 and World Baseball Classic in 2013. They are the first team to have won both world competitions. They are currently ranked the 7th-best in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. At the Olympics in 2021 it faced Israel, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, and the United States.
The Puerto Rico national baseball team is the national baseball team of Puerto Rico. The men's senior team is currently ranked 11th in the world, while its women's counterpart is 12th. Puerto Rico is the incumbent Pan American and Central American/Caribbean champion, as well as the World Baseball Classic runner-up.
The Venezuelan Professional Baseball League or Liga Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional (LVBP) is the professional baseball league in Venezuela. The league's champion takes part in the Caribbean Series each year.
Leones del Escogido is a professional baseball team in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Established in 1921, Leones are the third most successful team in the Dominican Winter League, behind Tigres del Licey and Aguilas Cibaeñas, having won 17 national championships and 4 Caribbean Series. Of the 17 won championships, 16 are of the Liga Dominicana de Béisbol (LIDOM) Winter League.
The Colombian Professional Baseball League, is a professional baseball league based in Colombia. It is a five-team winter league that plays during the Major League Baseball offseason. The league's champion takes part in the Caribbean Series.

The men's baseball tournament at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada was held at the Pan Am Ball Park in Ajax, Ontario from July 11 to 19. Two fields hosted competition, with the main one holding 4,000 spectators and the secondary one holding 1,000 seats.

The 2018 Caribbean Series was the 60th edition of the international competition featuring the champions of the Cuban National Series, Dominican Professional Baseball League, Mexican Pacific League, Puerto Rican Professional Baseball League, and Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. It took place from February 2 to 8, 2018 at the Estadio Panamericano in Guadalajara, Mexico. Criollos de Caguas of Puerto Rico won the tournament.
The 2019 Caribbean Series was the 61st edition of the international competition featuring the champions of the Cuban National Series, Dominican Professional Baseball League, Mexican Pacific League, Puerto Rican Professional Baseball League, Panamanian Professional Baseball League, and Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. It took place from February 4 to 10, 2019, at Estadio Nacional de Panamá in Panama City, Panama. The series was originally set to be hosted in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, but for the second consecutive year had to be moved to an alternate location. This was due primarily to security concerns stemming from the 2019 Venezuelan presidential crisis.
The 2021 Caribbean Series was the 63rd edition of the international competition featuring the champions of the Colombian Professional Baseball League, Dominican Professional Baseball League, Mexican Pacific League, Panamanian Professional Baseball League, Puerto Rican Professional Baseball League, and Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. It took place from January 31 to February 6, 2021 at Estadio Teodoro Mariscal in Mazatlán, Mexico.
The 2022 Caribbean Series marked the 64th edition of the Caribbean Series from January 28 through February 3, 2022, played at Estadio Quisqueya in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
