The 2020 Faroe Islands Premier League (referred to as Betri deildin menn for sponsorship reasons) was the 78th season of top-tier football in the Faroe Islands, and the 16th under the current format.

were the defending champions, having won their 18th Faroese title in the previous season. The season was scheduled to start on 8 March [1] and later postponed to 15 March, [2] because of the outbreak of coronavirus in the Faroe Islands. The season started on 9 May 2020 [3] and ended on 7 November 2020. This was decided after there had been no reported case of COVID-19 in the Faroe Islands from 6 April to 18 April. There has been no deaths due to COVID-19 in the Faroe Islands as of 8 November 2020. [4]

The Norwegian TV2 broadcast matches from the first 12 rounds. [5]

Havnar Bóltfelag (HB) won their 24th championship with 69 points. [6]

Skála were relegated and AB played against B68 Toftir to decide if AB would be relegated or not. The winner of the match won the right to play in the top league in the 2021 season. [7] The match was played on 29 November 2020. AB lost the match 2-3 (1-1 after 90 minutes) after extra time, and was relegated. B68 won promotion to 2021 Faroe Islands Premier League. Andri Benjaminsen, the 20-year-old younger brother of record player of the Faroe Islands national football team Fróði Benjaminsen scored a hat trick. [8]

Fróði Benjaminsen is a Faroese former footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. Benjaminsen previously played for HB Tórshavn, B68 Toftir, Fram Reykjavík, B36 Tórshavn and Skála ÍF. He made a record 96 appearances for the Faroe Islands and captained the national team since 2008. In 2015, he retired from the national team, but continued to play at club level until 2022. On 16 August 2016, Benjaminsen came out of international retirement to play against Hungary in the FIFA World Cup 2018 qualification phase.

2010 Faroe Islands Premier League, also known as Vodafonedeildin for sponsoring reasons, was the sixty-eighth season of top-tier football on the Faroe Islands. It began on 31 March 2010 with a match between NSÍ Runavík and ÍF Fuglafjørður and ended on 23 October 2010. HB Tórshavn were the defending champions, having won their 20th league championship last season.

The 2008 season of the Faroe Islands Premier League was the 66th season of the Faroese top-tier football since its establishment. It started on 29 March 2008 with a match between B36 Tórshavn and ÍF Fuglafjørður. The match was won by B36 with 4–0. The last games were played on 25 October 2008. NSÍ Runavík were the defending champions.

The Faroe Islands Premier League kvinnur is the top level women's football league of the Faroe Islands. It was called 1. deild kvinnur until 2018, when the Faroese top tier in the women's football for the first time was named after a sponsor. The new name was Betri Deildin kvinnur and is a deal for five years, from 2018 until the end of the 2022 season.

The 2017 Faroe Islands Premier League was the 75th season of top-tier football in the Faroe Islands. Víkingur Gøta successfully defended their first Faroese title from the previous season. The season began on 12 March 2017 and ended on 20 October 2017.

The 2018 Faroe Islands Premier League was the 76th season of top-tier football in the Faroe Islands. Víkingur Gøta were the defending champions, having won their second Faroese title in the previous season. The season started in 11 March and ended on 27 October.

The 2018 1. deild kvinnur was the 34th season of women's league football in the Faroe Islands. EB/Streymur/Skála were the defending champions, having won their first title the previous season. The season started in 11 March and ended on 26 October.

The 2019 Faroe Islands Premier League was the 77th season of top-tier football in the Faroe Islands and the 15th under the current format.

The 2019 1. deild kvinnur was the 35th season of women's league football in the Faroe Islands. EB/Streymur/Skála were the defending champions, having won their 2nd title the previous season. The season started on 9 March and ended on 28 September.

The 2020 1. deild was the 78th season of second-tier football in the Faroe Islands, and the 44th under the current format. Víkingur Gøta II won the league, but could not be promoted because the club already had a team in the Faroe Islands Premier League. 07 Vestur won promotion after the regular season. B68 Toftir which ended as 4th after the regular season played a promotion/relegation match against Argja Bóltfelag on 29 November 2020. B68 Toftir won the away match 2-3 with hat trick from Andri Benjaminsen, who is a young brother of record player of the Faroe Islands national football team Fróði Benjaminsen. The match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, and after prolonged time B68 won with 3 goals against AB's 2 goals.

The 2020 Faroe Islands Cup was the 66th edition of Faroe Islands domestic football cup. It started on 27 June and ended on 5 December. Havnar Bóltfelag were the defending champions, having won their twenty-seventh cup title the previous year and successfully defended their title.

The 2020 1. deild kvinnur was the 36th season of women's league football in the Faroe Islands. KÍ Klaksvík were the defending champions, having won their 18th title the previous season. The season started on 24 May and ended on 17 October. KÍ Klaksvík once again won the championship.
