The 2020–21 Appalachian State Mountaineers women's basketball team represented Appalachian State University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The basketball team, led by second-year head coach Dustin Kerns, played all home games at the Holmes Center along with the Appalachian State Mountaineers men's basketball team. They were members of the Sun Belt Conference.
The Mountaineers finished the 2019–20 season 11–19, 8–10 in Sun Belt play to finish eighth place in the conference. They made it to the 2019-20 Sun Belt Conference women's basketball tournament where they were defeated by Little Rock in the First Round. Shortly after their elimination, the remainder of the tournament as well as all postseason play was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [1]

The Appalachian State Mountaineers are the athletic teams that represent Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, United States. The Mountaineers compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and were a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon) between 1972 and 2014. On July 1, 2014, Appalachian State moved to the Sun Belt Conference. Appalachian State fields varsity teams in 17 sports, 7 for men and 10 for women. The football team competes in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly I-A, as a result of the transition to the Sun Belt. The wrestling team remains in the Southern Conference because the Sun Belt does not sponsor the sport. In field hockey, another sport not sponsored by the Sun Belt, Appalachian State joined the Mid-American Conference for the 2017 season after playing two seasons as an independent following the demise of its former league, the Northern Pacific Field Hockey Conference (NorPac). While rivialries exist with Sun Belt west division schools such as Troy and Louisiana, Appalachian State's main Sun Belt rivals are east division members Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern, as well as rekindled rivalries from the days in FCS with recent Sun Belt additions Marshall and James Madison. Historically prior to joining the Sun Belt, Western Carolina and Furman were prominant rivialries.
The 2016–17 Appalachian State Mountaineers women's basketball team represented Appalachian State University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Eagles, led by third year head coach Angel Elderkin, played their home games at George M. Holmes Convocation Center and were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 13–19, 6–12 in Sun Belt play to finish in ninth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt women's tournament where they lost to Little Rock.

The Eagles, led by fourth year head coach Angel Elderkin, played their home games at George M. Holmes Convocation Center and were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 8–23, 5–13 in Sun Belt play to finish in ninth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt women's tournament where they lost to Little Rock.
The 2018–19 Appalachian State Mountaineers women's basketball team represented Appalachian State University in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Mountaineers, led by fifth year head coach Angel Elderkin, played their home games at George M. Holmes Convocation Center and were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 22–14, 10–8 in Sun Belt play to finish in fifth place. They advanced to the semifinals of the Sun Belt women's tournament where they lost to Little Rock. They received an invitation to the WBI where they defeated UNC Asheville, Marshall, Campbell and North Texas to win the WBI championship.
The 2019–20 Texas State Bobcats men's basketball team represented Texas State University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bobcats, led by 7th-year head coach Danny Kaspar, played their home games at Strahan Arena in San Marcos, Texas as members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 21–11, 13–7 in Sun Belt play to finish in a tie for second place. They defeated Appalachian State in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt tournament and were set to face South Alabama in the semifinals until the tournament was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Mountaineers, led by first-year head coach Dustin Kerns, played their home games at the George M. Holmes Convocation Center in Boone, North Carolina as members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 18–15, 11–9 in Sun Belt play to finish in sixth place. They defeated Coastal Carolina in the second round of the Sun Belt tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to Texas State.

The Mountaineers were led by first-year head coach Shawn Clark. Appalachian State played their home games at Kidd Brewer Stadium on the school's Boone, North Carolina, campus, and competed as a member of the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference.
The 2019–20 Little Rock Trojans women's basketball team represented the University of Arkansas at Little Rock during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Trojans, led by seventeenth year head coach Joe Foley, play their home games at the Jack Stephens Center and were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 12–19, 9–9 in Sun Belt play to finish in a tie for fifth place with South Alabama. In the Sun Belt tournament, the Trojans, placed fifth, defeated No. 8 Appalachian State 48-47 before being defeated by No. 4 Louisiana 46–49. Shortly after being eliminated, the conference canceled the remainder of the tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic which was followed with the NCAA canceling all post-season play.

The Mountaineers, led by sixth year head coach Angel Elderkin, played their home games at George M. Holmes Convocation Center and were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 11–18, 8–10 in Sun Belt play to finish in eighth place. The Mountaineers were eliminated in the First Round of the Sun Belt tournament to Little Rock by the score of 47–48. Shortly after being eliminated, the Sun Belt canceled the tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was followed shortly by the NCAA cancelling all post-season play.
The 2020–21 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team represented the University of Louisiana at Lafayette during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Ragin' Cajuns, led by ninth-year head coach Garry Brodhead, played all home games at the Cajundome along with the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team. They were members of the Sun Belt Conference.
The 2020–21 Appalachian State Mountaineers men's basketball team represented Appalachian State University in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Mountaineers, led by second-year head coach Dustin Kerns, played their home games at the George M. Holmes Convocation Center in Boone, North Carolina as members of the Sun Belt Conference. With the creation of divisions to cut down on travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they played in the East Division. They finished the season 17–12, 7–8 in Sun Belt Play to finish 4th in the East Division. They defeated Little Rock, Texas State, Coastal Carolina, and Georgia State to win the Sun Belt tournament. They received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the First Four to Norfolk State.
The 2020–21 South Alabama Jaguars women's basketball team represented the University of South Alabama during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The basketball team, led by seventh-year head coach Terry Fowler, played all home games at the Mitchell Center along with the South Alabama Jaguars men's basketball team. They were members of the Sun Belt Conference.
The 2020–21 Troy Trojans women's basketball team represented Troy University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The basketball team, led by ninth-year head coach Chanda Rigby, played all home games at the Trojan Arena along with the Troy Trojans men's basketball team. They were members of the Sun Belt Conference.
The 2020–21 Georgia State Panthers women's basketball team represented Georgia State University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The basketball team, led by second-year head coach Gene Hill, played all home games at the GSU Sports Arena along with the Georgia State Panthers men's basketball team. They were members of the Sun Belt Conference.
The 2020–21 Little Rock Trojans women's basketball team represented the University of Arkansas at Little Rock during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The basketball team, led by eighteenth-year head coach Joe Foley, played all home games at the Jack Stephens Center along with the Little Rock Trojans men's basketball team. They were members of the Sun Belt Conference.
The 2020–21 Arkansas State Red Wolves women's basketball team represented Arkansas State University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The basketball team finished the season with interim head coach and former assistant Destinee Rogers after second year head coach Matt Daniel resigned on Dec 13th 2021.The team played all home games at the First National Bank Arena along with the Arkansas State Red Wolves men's basketball team. They were members of the Sun Belt Conference.

The 2020–21 UT Arlington Mavericks women's basketball team represented the University of Texas at Arlington during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The basketball team, led by first-year head coach Shereka Wright, played all home games at the College Park Center along with the UT Arlington Mavericks men's basketball team. They were members of the Sun Belt Conference.
The 2021–22 Appalachian State Mountaineers men's basketball team represented Appalachian State University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Mountaineers, led by third-year head coach Dustin Kerns, played their home games at the Holmes Center in Boone, North Carolina as members in the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 19–15, 12–6 in Sun Belt play to finish in second place. They defeated Georgia Southern in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt tournament before losing to Georgia State in the semifinals. The Mountaineers received an invitation to The Basketball Classic postseason tournament, formerly known as the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. There they lost in the first round to USC Upstate.
