The 2022 Asian Women's Junior Handball Championship was 16th edition of the championship held from 7 to 14 March 2022 in Almaty, Kazakhstan under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. [2] It was the fifth time in history that the championship was organised by the Kazakhstan Handball Federation. [3] It also acted as the qualification tournament for the 2022 Women's Junior World Handball Championship, with top tree teams from the championship directly qualifying for the event to be held in Slovenia. [4]

Previously, the championship was supposed to be held in Uzbekistan, but in December 2021, AHF decided to move the event to Kazakhstan due to unavoidable circumstances. In January 2022, the championship was further postponed from the planned dates of February 13–20 due to the 2022 Kazakh unrest.

Draw

The draw was held on 28 December 2021 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. [5]

Seeding

Teams were seeded according to the AHF COC regulations and rankings of the previous edition of the championship. Teams who did not participated in the previous edition were in Pot 3.

Asian Handball Federation Organization

The Asian Handball Federation (AHF) is the governing body of handball and beach handball in Asia. It has 44 member countries, mostly located on the Asian continent, but excludes the transcontinental countries with territory in both Europe and Asia – Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russian Federation and Turkey – which are instead members of European Handball Federation (EHF). The 2017 African Women's Junior Handball Championship was the 24th edition of the championship organised by the Ivory Coast Handball Federation under the auspices of the African Handball Confederation. It was held in Palais des Sports de Treichville, Abidjan from 4 to 10 September 2017. It was played in under-19 years category. It was the fifth time that Ivory Coast staged the competition. It also acts as qualification tournament for the IHF Women's Junior World Handball Championship. Top three teams i.e. Angola, Egypt and the hosts Ivory Coast qualified for the 2018 Women's Junior World Handball Championship to be held in Hungary.

2018 Asian Mens Junior Handball Championship

The 2018 Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship will be the 16th edition of the championship scheduled to be held from 16 to 26 July 2018 at Salalah, Oman under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. It will be the first time in history that championship will be organised in Oman by the Oman Handball Association. It also acts as the qualification tournament for the 2019 Men's Junior World Handball Championship. Top three teams from the championship will directly qualify for the Junior World Championship to be held in Spain.

The 2020 Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2018 Asian Mens Youth Handball Championship

The 2018 Asian Men's Youth Handball Championship was the 8th edition of the championship held from 16 to 26 September 2018 at Amman (Jordan) under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. It was the third time in history that championship was organised in Jordan by the Jordan Handball Federation. The top four teams qualified for the 2019 Men's Youth World Handball Championship to be held in Republic of Macedonia.
