Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah were the defending champions but Farah chose not to participate this year. Cabal played alongside Denys Molchanov, but lost in the semifinals to Max Mirnyi and Philipp Oswald.
Jack Sock and Jackson Withrow were the defending champions, but Sock withdrew from the tournament due to injury. Withrow played alongside Nick Kyrgios, but lost in the quarterfinals to Radu Albot and Yoshihito Nishioka.

They became the first all-Australian pair to win the title since Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde in 1997, and the first wildcard champions in the Open Era. It marked the first all-Australian final since 1980.

With his maiden major title, Arévalo became the first men's doubles major champion from Central America, and at 40 years of age, Rojer became the oldest men's doubles major champion in the Open Era with his third major men's doubles title.
