The 2022 Melon Music Awards was held on November 26, 2022, at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea. Organized by Kakao M through its online music store Melon, the 2022 ceremony was the fourteenth installment of the event and its first fully offline ceremony since 2019. Artists who released music between November 8, 2021, and November 3, 2022, are eligible for the awards. [1]

Contents

Lim Young-woong won two daesangs—Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, while BTS were awarded the Record of the Year. Ive won the Song of the Year, the group's first ever daesang win, alongside Best New Artist with NewJeans, marking the first time two female acts won in the rookie category during the same ceremony.

Voting for categories opened for South Korean residents on the Melon Music website on November 4 and will continue until November 18, 2022. Only artists who released music between November 8, 2021, and November 3, 2022, are eligible. The longlist of nominees was selected based on the chart performance criteria (60% downloads and 40% streams) for each artist combined with weekly Melon Popularity Award votes achieved during the eligibility period. Categories that are open to online voting include: Top 10 Artists, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Male Solo, Best Female Solo, Best Male Group, Best Female Group, and Netizen Popularity Award.     The 2011 Melon Music Awards were held on Thursday, November 24, 2011, at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea, the event's first use of the venue. Organized by Kakao M through its online music store Melon, the 2011 ceremony was the third installment of the event since its offline launch in 2009. Beast, IU and 2NE1 received the most nominations at the ceremony, have each been nominated five times. The trio along with Super Junior were the only artists who received multiple accolades, with all four artists winning two awards each. Furthermore, the aforementioned trio won the three daesang prizes at the event.

    Im Hero is the debut studio album by South Korean singer Lim Young-woong, released on May 2, 2022, through Mulgogi Music and distributed by Dreamus. It was preceded by the single "Our Blues, Our Life", which topped the Gaon Digital Chart on release, and accompanied by the second single "If We Ever Meet Again", which also debuted atop the Gaon Digital Chart.

The ceremony was held at the Kyocera Dome Osaka, Japan. The theme for the ceremony is titled "K-POP World Citizenship" with sub-themes per night, "The world we build together" for day 1, and "We are K-POP" for day 2. The ceremony was hosted by An Yu-jin, with pre-ceremony red carpet event hosted by Hitomi Honda, Nako Yabuki, and Ha Ji-young.
