Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers head coach Tom Gravante was assisted by coaches Kevin Giblin, Nick Kellinger, and Ted Moon. [1] Jared McMahon, Connor McMahon, Kadin Kightlinger, and Noah Daniels served as team captains. [2] 2021 team leaders Luke Frankeny, Bryan McIntosh, and Sam Stephen transferred to other programs prior to the season.

Contents

The Mountaineers registered their first win over Navy in program history with the season opener. [3] Goalie Griffin McGinley earned USA Lacrosse Player of the Week, [4] NEC Defensive Player of the Week, [5] and Lacrosse Bucket Team of the Week honors, [6] while attackman Cormac Giblin earned NEC Player of the Week honors. [7] Senior goalie Gunnar Luckoski earned NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors, [8] and was named an NEC Prime Performer along with sophomore face off specialist Connor Beals and graduate attackman Brendan Lantieri after the Mount's 9-5 win over Wagner College. With a 5-10 regular season record, Mount St. Mary's failed to qualify for the NEC playoffs.

At the conclusion of the season, Daniels earned United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Scholar All-American honors [9] and coach Giblin was inducted into the National Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame. [10]

The Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers men's basketball team represents Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, United States. The team's current head coach is Dan Engelstad. It competed in the Northeast Conference from 1989 until July 1, 2022, after which, they will join the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Mountaineers play their home games at Knott Arena. The team has played in five NCAA Division I men's basketball tournaments by virtue of winning the NEC tournament. They were NCAA Division II National Champions in 1962 and NCAA Division II runner-up in 1981.

Thomas Carmean is the assistant coach of the Boys' NCAA lacrosse team at Keene State College in New Hampshire. Carmean is the former Guilford College Men's Lacrosse Team, a lacrosse alumnus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a former player for the Boston Blazers, New York Saints and Bridgeport Barrage, He is an inductee of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame, New England Chapter. He coached at Amherst College from 2000 through 2010 and was named the head men's lacrosse at Guilford College on June 2, 2010. Carmean Was named assistant coach of the Keene State Owls in 2022.

The Mountaineers, led by fifth-year head coach Jamion Christian, played their home games at Knott Arena in Emmitsburg, Maryland as members of the Northeast Conference. They finished the season 20–16, 14–4 in NEC play to win the regular season championship, their first championship in 21 years. In the NEC tournament, they defeated Sacred Heart, Robert Morris, and Saint Francis (PA) to win the tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
