The 2022 PCS season was the third year of the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), a professional esports league for the MOBA PC game League of Legends .
The spring split began with the first day of the regular season on 11 February and concluded with the spring finals on 17 April.
The summer split began with the first day of the regular season on 1 July and concluded with the summer finals on 4 September.
Half of the teams in the PCS withdrew from the league prior to the 2022 season, including the PCS' representatives from the Philippines and Thailand. [1] Berjaya Dragons, BOOM Esports, Hong Kong Attitude, Liyab Esports, and Machi Esports all withdrew from the PCS, and were replaced by CTBC Flying Oyster, Deep Cross Gaming, Frank Esports, Meta Falcon Team, and SEM9. Alpha Esports also rebranded as Hurricane Gaming. [2]

The League of Legends Pro League (LPL) is the top-level professional league for League of Legends in China. The first season of the LPL was the 2013 Spring season. The top three finishers of the playoff tournament receive automatic bids to the League of Legends World Championship. Playoffs are an eight team single elimination with each step a best-of-five series. The total prize pool is ¥2,350,000. In 2014 Riot Games began providing an English language broadcast. The format is modeled after the League of Legends Champions Korea format in South Korea. In September 2015 it was announced that Riot Games was in negotiations with Tencent to take over operations of the league. In 2019, Riot Games and Tencent created joint venture, TJ Sports, to focus on all League of Legends esports business in China, including tournament organizing, talent management, and venues.
League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) is the primary competition for League of Legends esports in South Korea. Contested by ten teams, the league runs two seasons per year and serves as a direct route to qualification for the annual League of Legends World Championship. The LCK is administered in cooperation between Riot Games and KeSPA.
GAM Esports is a professional League of Legends team competing in the Vietnam Championship Series (VCS), the highest level of competitive League of Legends in Vietnam. The team first rose to international prominence in 2017, after their exceptional performance at that year's Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).
The Pacific Championship Series (PCS) is the top level of professional League of Legends in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia, and Oceania. Riot Games, the game's developer, created the esports league on 19 December 2019. This followed an announcement three months prior by Garena – the game's distributor in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia – that it planned to merge the League of Legends Master Series (LMS) and League of Legends SEA Tour (LST) into a single tournament jointly run with Riot Games. On 18 November 2022, Riot Games announced that Oceania would become a part of the PCS region and the League of Legends Circuit Oceania (LCO) would be downgraded to a tier-two league, secondary to the PCS.

The 2022 League of Legends World Championship was an esports tournament for the multiplayer online battle arena video game League of Legends. It was the twelfth iteration of the League of Legends World Championship, an annual international tournament organized by the game's developer, Riot Games. The tournament was held from September 29 to November 5 in Mexico and the United States. Twenty-four teams from 11 regions qualified for the tournament based on their placement in regional circuits such as those in China, Europe, North America, South Korea, Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau/Southeast Asia and Vietnam, with twelve of those teams having to reach the main event via a play-in stage.
