The 2022 Women's Rugby League European Championship B was an international women's rugby league tournament that took place between June and October 2022. [1] It was be divided into two groups, with Ireland, Italy and Wales playing in the north, and Greece, Serbia and Turkey contesting the south. [1]

Contents

Greece won the southern section winning both their games in the teams first tournament. [2] Wales won the northern section, again winning both their matches. [3]

The 2021 Men's Rugby League World Cup qualification was the qualifying process which will decide the 8 teams that would join the 8 quarter-finalists from the 2021 World Cup including the hosts England, who received an automatic spot, at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. The process commenced in June 2018, with the commencement of the 2018–19 Rugby League European Championship C tournament, which acted as the first round for European qualification.

The 2018–19 Rugby League European Championship C was the tenth edition of the Rugby League European Championship C and acted as the initial phase of European qualifying to the 2021 Men's Rugby League World Cup. The series involves two pools of three teams in a round-robin tournament. These matches took place between 16 June and 15 September 2018, with the final match taking place on 18 May 2019, where Greece defeat Norway to progress to the next round of European repechage qualifying against Scotland and Serbia.

The 2019 Rugby League European play-off tournament was the final phase of European qualifying to the 2021 Rugby League World Cup, played in October and November 2019. It featured six nations, five of whom have come through the previous phases of European qualifying - 2018 European Championship, 2018 European Championship B and 2018–19 European Championship C. The competition was played in two groups of three with the winners and runners up in each group qualifying for the World Cup.

The Italy women's national rugby league team represents Italy in rugby league football. Their governing body, the Federazione Italiana Rugby League, was formed in 2008. They are currently ranked 8th in the RLIF World Rankings.

The following is a list of results for the Greece national rugby league team since their first match in 2003, where they defeated New Caledonia 26–10. They have played 29 matches, winning 20 and losing nine. Their most recent result was an 82–6 win against Serbia.

The 2020 European Championship was a planned international rugby league tournament that would have taken place in October and November 2020. Six teams were to have competed in the 2020 edition, with Italy and Spain joining the four teams that participated in 2018. The teams were split into two pools of three, where the winners would have contested a final and the bottom teams would have been relegated to the 2022 European Championship B. The tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Wales women's national Rugby League team represents Wales in Women's Rugby League. They are administered by the Wales Rugby League. The first match played by the team was a 'friendly' against Great Britain Teachers in 2019. Another friendly match, against England Lions was played in November 2019. The first full international played by the team was in June 2021.

The Ireland women's national rugby league team is organised by Rugby League Ireland and represents Ireland in international rugby league.

The Serbia women's national rugby league team is organised by the Serbian Rugby League and represents Serbia in international rugby league.

The Greece women's national rugby league team represents Greece in women's rugby league football. Founded in 2019 by the Greek Rugby League Association, the team played its first game in September 2019 in a friendly match against Turkey.

The 2023 Rugby League European Championship will be the 34th edition of the Rugby League European Championship, and the inaugural edition of the promotion and relegation era of the tournament after the cancellation of the planned first edition in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 25 May 2023, the ERL announced that the tournament would be delayed due to France withdrawing as hosts of the 2025 Rugby League World Cup. The tournament was scheduled October and November 2023.

The Women's Rugby League European Championship is an international rugby league football tournament for European national teams first held in 2022.

There will be four qualification tournaments for the 2025 Women's Rugby League World Cup - one for each International Rugby League confederation. This will be the first time teams will need to qualify for the women's rugby league world cup with previous editions having been by invitation only.
