The 2023 Waterford Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship was the inaugural staging of the Waterford Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Waterford County Board. The draw for the group stage placing took place on 7 February 2023. [1] The championship ran from 28 July to 9 September 2023.
The final was played on 9 September 2023 at Walsh Park in Waterford, between Ferrybank and Cappoquin, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. [2] Ferrybank won the match by 2–22 to 1–14 to claim their first ever championship title overall. [3]

The Waterford Senior Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by the Waterford County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1897 for the top hurling teams in the county of Waterford in Ireland.
Waterford Intermediate Hurling Championship is a third-tier hurling competition organised by the Waterford Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association.The final is contested by the winners of the Western and Eastern intermediate championships. The winning club progresses to the premier intermediate grade the following year for the Waterford Premier Intermediate hurling championship. Each of the two divisions of Waterford GAA - East Division and West Division - organises its own competition, with the two winners contesting the county final. Until 2022 the winners of this competition were promoted to the senior ranks for the subsequence season, when in 2022 it was decided that a premier intermediate grade would be introduced.
Rinn Ó gCuanach CLG is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Irish speaking (Gaeltacht) area of Ring, County Waterford, Ireland. The club fields teams of both GAA codes, including two adult Gaelic football teams and two adult hurling teams in the Waterford County Championships. It is one of a small number of dual clubs at senior level in the county, competing in the Senior Hurling and Senior Football championships. The club's second string teams take part in the Waterford Junior Hurling and Football championships.
Clashmore–Kinsalebeg GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Clashmore, County Waterford, Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and gaelic football.
Sliabh gCua–St Mary's GAA is a GAA club based between Dungarvan and Clonmel, County Waterford, Ireland. The club plays both hurling and Gaelic football. The club can trace its way back to 1927 but it was in 1970 that the present club Sliabh gCua–St Mary's GAA was formed. The club still uses two separate names depending on which sport they are playing. The name St Mary's is used as the name for its hurling teams, while its football teams still go under the name of Sliabh gCua. At underage, they are joined with Modeligo and are known as Naomh Brid. At U21 level, they are joined with a few other small local clubs Colligan and Kilgobinet, who play under the name Comeragh Gaels.
Brian Thomas O'Halloran is an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer who plays for Waterford Championship club Clashmore–Kinsalebeg. He played for the Waterford senior hurling team for 10 seasons, during which time he usually lined out as a right corner-forward.

The original championship draw took place on 21 January 2020, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic in Ireland the draws for a rescheduled championship took place on 15 June 2020 with a new format being adopted and relegation being abolished.
