The 2023–24 Nicholls Colonels women's basketball team represented Nicholls State University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Colonels, led by first-year head coach Justin Payne, played their home games at Stopher Gym located in Thibodaux, Louisiana as members of the Southland Conference. The Colonels compiled a 14–18 overall record and a 7–11 record in conference play. Their season ended with a 57–75 second-round loss to Southeastern Louisiana in the SLC tournament.
Home games were broadcast on ESPN+.
The Colonels finished the 2022–23 season with a 5–24 overall record and a 2–16 record for last place in Southland Conference play. They failed to qualify for the 2023 Southland Conference women's basketball tournament.[ citation needed ]

The Southland Conference, abbreviated as SLC, is a collegiate athletic conference which operates in the South Central United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I for all sports; for football, it participates in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Southland sponsors 18 sports, 10 for women and eight for men, and is governed by a presidential Board of Directors and an Advisory Council of athletic and academic administrators. Chris Grant became the Southland's seventh commissioner on April 5, 2022. From 1996 to 2002, for football only, the Southland Conference was known as the Southland Football League.
The 2021 Nicholls State Colonels football team represented Nicholls State University as a member of the Southland Conference during the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by seventh-year head coach Tim Rebowe, the Colonels compiled an overall record of 6–5 with a mark of 5–3 in conference play, placing third in the Southland. Nicholls State played home games at John L. Guidry Stadium in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

The 2022–23 Texas A&M–Corpus Christi Islanders men's basketball team represent Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season as members of the Southland Conference. The Islanders are led by second-year head coach Steve Lutz. With the exception of four games at the Dugan Wellness Center, all home games are at American Bank Center. Both arenas are located in Corpus Christi, Texas. They finished the season 24–11, 14–4 in Southland play to win the regular season championship. They defeated McNeese and Northwestern State to win the Southland tournament for the second consecutive year. As a result, they received the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, as a No. 16 seed in the South region. In the First Four, they defeated Southeast Missouri State before losing to overall No. 1 seed Alabama in the First Round.

The 2023–24 Lamar Cardinals basketball team represented Lamar University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cardinals were led by third-year head coach Alvin Brooks and played their home games at the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center in Beaumont, Texas. They finished the season 19–14 overall and 12–6 in Southland Conference play for a fourth-place conference finish. As the fourth-seeded team, the Cardinals were 1–1 in the SLC tournament defeating eighth-seeded New Orleans 71–57 and losing to top-seeded McNeese 57–76 in the semifinal round.

The Lady Cardinals, led by fifth year head coach Aqua Franklin, played their home games at the Montagne Center in Beaumont, Texas as members of the Southland Conference. They won the Southland Conference regular season championship with a 17–1 record. Lamar was defeated by Texas A&M–Corpus Christi in the SLC tournament championship game. They were invited to compete in the inaugural 2024 WBIT. Their season ended with a first round loss to Washington State.

The Cardinals were led by coach Jeff Dow, in his fifth season, and were members of the Southland Conference. The team compiled an overall record of 19–11 and a 12–6 record in conference play. Their season ended in the first round of the SLC tournament losing to Texas A&M–Commerce.

The 2024 Nicholls Colonels baseball team represented Nicholls State University during the 2024 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Colonels played their home games at Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field and were led by third–year head coach Mike Silva. They are members of the Southland Conference. The Colonels compiled a 38–22 overall record and a 16–8 record in conference play for a second-place finish. Qualifying for the SLC tournament as the 2nd seeded team, the Colonels defeated 7th seed Texas A&M–Corpus Christi 14–27; 6th seeded Southeastern Louisiana 5–410 and 4–3; and McNeese 15–17 to win the tournament championship and earn the conference auto–bid to the 2024 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. As the 3rd seeded team in the Corvallis Regional, the Colonels fell to 2nd seeded UC Irvine 12–13 and Tulane 0–3.
The 2024 Southeastern Louisiana Lions baseball team represented Southeastern Louisiana University during the 2024 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Lions played their home games at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field were led by first–year head coach Bobby Barbier. They are members of the Southland Conference. They compiled a 30–28 overall record. They completed conference play in a three-way tie for sixth place with a 10–14 record. Qualifying for the SLC tournament as the 6th seeded team, the Lions had a 2–2 record defeating 3rd seeded New Orleans two times, 10–2 and 11–5, and losing to 2nd seeded Nicholls, 4–5 and 3–4.

The Colonels played their home games at Swanner Field at Geo Surfaces Park and were led by third-year head coach Justin Lewis. They are members of the Southland Conference. The team compiled a 31–26 overall record and a 16–8 record in conference play finishing in third place. As the third seeded team in the SLC tournament, the Colonels were 2–2 defeating seventh seeded Houston Chrstian 5–4 and fifth seeded Lamar 5–48. They were defeated by second seeded Southeastern Louisiana 1–4 and first seeded McNeese 3–48.
The 2024 Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions softball team represented Southeastern Louisiana University during the 2024 NCAA Division I softball season. The Lady Lions played their home games at North Oak Park in Hammond, LA and were led by ninth-year head coach Rick Fremin. They are members of the Southland Conference. They compiled a 47–15 overall record including a 17–7 record in conference play and a regular season second place finish. The Lady Lions won the Southland Conference tournament. Their tournament championship win was the Lady Lions's first in program history. Earning the conference's auto-bid to the 2024 NCAA Division I softball tournament, the team competed in the NCAA Division I tournament's Tuscaloosa regional. The team had a 2–2 record defeating 23rd ranked Clemson twice and losing to 14th ranked Alabama twice. Their season ended with a loss to Alabama in the regional finals round.
The 2024 Texas A&M–Corpus Christi Islanders softball team represented Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi during the 2024 NCAA Division I softball season. The Islanders played their home games at the softball facility at Chapman Field and were led by third-year head coach Kathleen Rodriguez. They are members of the Southland Conference. The team compiled a 21–22 overall record and 9–15 in conference play finishing in sixth place. They qualified for the SLC tournament as the sixth seed. Their season ended with a first round 2–7 loss to seventh seeded Houston Christian.
