The 2024 Oceania Swimming Championships was held from 21 to 24 April 2024 at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. [1]
Following the cancellation of both the 2020 and 2022 competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Oceania, this championships became the thirteenth edition of the event as well as the third to be held in Australia. [2]
A total of fourteen teams participated at the 2024 championships.

The Oceania Athletics Association is the governing body for athletics in Oceania. It is one of the six Area Associations of the world's athletics governing body World Athletics. Oceania Athletics has 23 members and is headquartered in the Gold Coast.
Oceania Aquatics, formerly known as Oceania Swimming Association, is the continental governing body recognised by World Aquatics, for the national governing bodies of swimming, open water swimming, diving, water polo, synchronised swimming and masters swimming in Oceania.
The 15th FINA World Championships were held from 20 July to 4 August in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The 2013 World Championships featured 6 aquatics disciplines: swimming, water polo, diving, high diving, open water, and synchronised swimming.
The 8th Oceania Swimming Championships were held 21–26 June 2010, at the Tuanaimato Aquatic Centre in Apia, Samoa. It was the eighth edition of the biennial championships, and featured competition in swimming, open water swimming and synchronized swimming. The open water events were swum in the waters off Faleasiu.
The 2004 Oceania Swimming Championships were held May 15–19, 2004 at the National Aquatics Center in Suva, Fiji. This was the fifth edition of the Championships, and featured competitions in: swimming, open water swimming and synchronized swimming (synchro). The synchro competition marked the first time the sport had been swum in Fiji.
The 16th FINA World Championships, also Aquatics 2015, were held in Kazan, Russia from 24 July to 9 August 2015. Russia hosted this event for the first time. The number of participating national teams (190), athletes (2,400) and the number of medals (75) were the most ever amongst these championships. This was the first time the World Aquatics Championships partially overlaps with the FINA World Masters Championships that have a number of athletes, countries (110) and medals (635) which are the most ever also.
The 17th FINA World Championships were held in Budapest, Hungary from 14 to 30 July 2017.
The 9th Oceania Swimming Championships were May 28-June 3, 2012 in Nouméa, New Caledonia. The Championships featured competition in Swimming, Open Water Swimming and Synchronized Swimming. Swimming was held at the CARD Guy Verlaguet pool in Dumbéa, Synchro was held at a pool in Ouen-Toro park, and the Open Water races were swum in the waters off Baie des Citrons (5K) and Anse-Vata (10K).
The 2013 Oceania Athletics Championships were held at the Stade Pater Te Hono Nui in Papeete, French Polynesia, between June 3–5, 2013. The event was held jointly with the 2013 Oceania Youth Athletics Championships, and there were also exhibition events for masters, athletes with a disability and children. Detailed reports on a day by day basis were given.
The 2019 World Aquatics Championships were the 18th FINA World Aquatics Championships, held in Gwangju, South Korea from 12 to 28 July 2019. The city had previously hosted the 2015 Summer Universiade aquatics events in the same venues.
The 10th Oceania Swimming Championships were held 20–23 May 2014, at the Westwave Aquatic Centre in Auckland, New Zealand. It was the tenth edition of the biennial championships, and featured competition in swimming, open water swimming and synchronized swimming. The open water events were held 11–12 January 2014, in Lake Taupō.
The Oceania Rugby Under 20 Championship is an international rugby union competition organised by Oceania Rugby, which is the regional governing body for rugby in Oceania. It is contested by men's junior national teams with an under-20 age requirement, and played as two tournaments: the Oceania Championship for teams that qualify for the World Championship; and the Oceania Trophy for teams aiming to compete in the World Rugby U20 Trophy.
The 11th Oceania Swimming Championships were held 21–26 June 2016 at the Damodar Aquatic Centre in Suva, Fiji. It was the eleventh edition of the biennial championships, and featured competition in swimming, open water swimming and synchronized swimming.
Wesley Roberts is a Cook Islands swimmer who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics and holds several Cook Islands national records in swimming.
Brandon Schuster is a Samoan swimmer who represented Samoa at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He holds multiple Samoan records in swimming.
Ariarne Elizabeth Titmus is an Australian swimmer. She is the reigning Olympic champion in the women's 400-metre freestyle, having won the event at the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2024 Summer Olympics and the world record holder in the long course 200-metre freestyle and 400-metre freestyle events. In 2019 and 2020, she competed representing the Cali Condors in the International Swimming League.
Swimming at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in the Gold Coast, Australia from 5 to 10 April. A total of 50 events were scheduled. Of the 50, 38 were for able-bodied athletes. The remaining 12 were for para sport athletes.
The 2018 Oceania Swimming Championships was held from 25 to 30 June 2018 at the Taurama Aquatic Centre in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. It was the twelfth edition of the biennial championships as well as the first to be held in Port Moresby. The tournament featured competition in swimming and open water swimming.
The 2023 Pacific Games, officially known as the XVII Pacific Games and commonly known as Sol 2023 or Honiara 2023, was a continental multi-sport event for Oceania countries and territories held in Honiara, Solomon Islands between 19 November and 2 December 2023. This was the first time that the Solomon Islands have hosted the Pacific Games.
