The 2024 Oceania Swimming Championships was held from 21 to 24 April 2024 at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. [1]

Contents

Following the cancellation of both the 2020 and 2022 competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Oceania, this championships became the thirteenth edition of the event as well as the third to be held in Australia. [2]

The 8th Oceania Swimming Championships were held 21–26 June 2010, at the Tuanaimato Aquatic Centre in Apia, Samoa. It was the eighth edition of the biennial championships, and featured competition in swimming, open water swimming and synchronized swimming. The open water events were swum in the waters off Faleasiu.

The 2004 Oceania Swimming Championships were held May 15–19, 2004 at the National Aquatics Center in Suva, Fiji. This was the fifth edition of the Championships, and featured competitions in: swimming, open water swimming and synchronized swimming (synchro). The synchro competition marked the first time the sport had been swum in Fiji.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2015 World Aquatics Championships</span> 16th FINA World Championships

The 16th FINA World Championships, also Aquatics 2015, were held in Kazan, Russia from 24 July to 9 August 2015. Russia hosted this event for the first time. The number of participating national teams (190), athletes (2,400) and the number of medals (75) were the most ever amongst these championships. This was the first time the World Aquatics Championships partially overlaps with the FINA World Masters Championships that have a number of athletes, countries (110) and medals (635) which are the most ever also.

The 17th FINA World Championships were held in Budapest, Hungary from 14 to 30 July 2017.

The 9th Oceania Swimming Championships were May 28-June 3, 2012 in Nouméa, New Caledonia. The Championships featured competition in Swimming, Open Water Swimming and Synchronized Swimming. Swimming was held at the CARD Guy Verlaguet pool in Dumbéa, Synchro was held at a pool in Ouen-Toro park, and the Open Water races were swum in the waters off Baie des Citrons (5K) and Anse-Vata (10K).

The 2013 Oceania Athletics Championships were held at the Stade Pater Te Hono Nui in Papeete, French Polynesia, between June 3–5, 2013. The 10th Oceania Swimming Championships were held 20–23 May 2014, at the Westwave Aquatic Centre in Auckland, New Zealand. It was the tenth edition of the biennial championships, and featured competition in swimming, open water swimming and synchronized swimming. The open water events were held 11–12 January 2014, in Lake Taupō.

The Oceania Rugby Under 20 Championship is an international rugby union competition organised by Oceania Rugby, which is the regional governing body for rugby in Oceania. Brandon Schuster is a Samoan swimmer who represented Samoa at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He holds multiple Samoan records in swimming.

Ariarne Elizabeth Titmus is an Australian swimmer. She is the reigning Olympic champion in the women's 400-metre freestyle, having won the event at the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2024 Summer Olympics and the world record holder in the long course 200-metre freestyle and 400-metre freestyle events. In 2019 and 2020, she competed representing the Cali Condors in the International Swimming League.

Swimming at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in the Gold Coast, Australia from 5 to 10 April. A total of 50 events were scheduled. Of the 50, 38 were for able-bodied athletes. The remaining 12 were for para sport athletes.

This was the first time that the Solomon Islands have hosted the Pacific Games.
