The 2024 UK Music Video Awards were held on 24 October 2024, in London, which recognises the best in music videos and music film making from United Kingdom and worldwide delivered between August 2023 and July 2024. [1] Submissions were open from June 2024 to 1 August 2024. The ceremony was hosted by American singer and former Scissor Sisters frontwoman Ana Matronic for a second year in a row. [2]

Contents

The nominations were announced on 25 September 2024. In terms of categories, the newcomer video categories were reduced from six to four grouping some, while the technical categories for Best Cinematography, Best Colour Grading and Best Editing were split into two each, for newcomer and non-newcomer videos. [3] British singer Charli XCX led the nominations with seven, followed by American singer-rapper Childish Gambino with six, while British singer Jade and Irish band Fontaines D.C. received five each. Charli XCX's "360", directed by Aidan Zamiri, won Video of the Year. [6] British rapper AntsLive was the most awarded artist of the ceremony with three awards, followed by Charli XCX, The Chemical Brothers, Fontaines D.C. and RM, all with two awards each. Canadian director Floria Sigismondi was honoured with the Icon Award for her "outstanding achievement in music videos for over the past three decades", presented by Lawrence Rothman. [2]

The UK Music Video Awards is an annual celebration of creativity, technical excellence and innovation in music video and moving image for music. The awards began in 2008. There is a wide range of opportunities for UK individuals and companies to enter their work: from genre-led video categories, to prizes for individuals in the technical and craft areas of the business, to recognition for innovative approaches to music videos, ads and other visuals. There are also awards for international videos and outstanding individuals, voted for by the MVA jury members. The Awards take place in the autumn, with the entry process opening in early August. Charlotte Emma Aitchison, known professionally as Charli XCX, is an English singer and songwriter. Born in Cambridge and raised in Start Hill, Essex, she began posting songs on Myspace in 2008, which led to her discovery by a promoter who invited her to perform at warehouse raves. In 2010, she signed a recording contract with Asylum Records, releasing a series of singles and mixtapes throughout 2011 and 2012.

English singer Charli XCX has released six studio albums, five mixtapes, three extended plays, one live album, one soundtrack album, one remix album, two DJ mixes, 48 singles, and 13 promotional singles. In 2007, XCX began recording her debut album on a loan granted by her parents. Titled 14, after her age at the time, it received only a restricted public release. Two singles, "!Franchesckaar!" and double A-side "Emelline" / "Art Bitch", were released in late 2008 under Orgy Music. In June 2012, Charli XCX released her first mixtape, titled Heartbreaks and Earthquakes, a one-track file consisting of eight songs. A second mixtape, titled Super Ultra, was released in November of the same year.
