The 2025 Dunedin local elections will take place between 9 September and 11 October 2025 by postal vote as part of nation-wide local elections. These elections will cover the Dunedin City Council, six community boards, a licensing trust and two constituencies of the Otago Regional Council. [1] [2]
The single transferable vote system will be used to elect the Mayor of Dunedin, city councillors, community board members and regional councillors for the 2025–2028 term, [3] [4] while Oamaru Licensing Trust trustees will be elected using first past the post.
