24 News(Twenty Four News) is a free-to-air Indian Malayalam language news channel owned by Insight Media City. It was initially launched as a pilot in 2016 and officially began operations on December 8, 2018. The channel is headquartered in Kochi and has studios in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. It is the second channel from Insight Media City, after Flowers TV.

History

24 News was launched in 2018, initially as a test channel, and was officially launched on 8 December 2018. The channel is promoted by Sreekandan Nair, a prominent Malayalam television anchor. Alungal Muhammed is the chairman of Twentyfour News. [1]

Ownership

24 News is owned by Insight Media City, a media company based in Kochi, Kerala. Insight Media City also owns the popular Malayalam entertainment channel Flowers TV. [2]

Programming

Twenty Four News broadcasts a variety of news and current affairs programs. It also has programs on sports, movies, lifestyle, and other topics. The channel also broadcasts live coverage of important events. [3]

Awards and recognition

Twenty Four News has received several awards for its journalism, including the Kerala State Television Award for Best News Channel in 2020. [4]

Kerala Kaumudi is a Malayalam language daily newspaper published from Kerala, India, headquartered in the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram. It was founded in 1911 by C. V. Kunhiraman as a periodical. His son K. Sukumaran later served as the newspaper's editor. Kerala Kaumudi is one of the largest circulated newspapers in Malayalam with 9 editions, published from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur besides being circulated in the United Arab Emirates.

Thiruvananthapuram has long been a center of media. Kerala Chandrika, the first newspaper of the state, was published from Thiruvananthapuram in 1789. The media also enjoyed the patronage of the Travancore kings. In 1836, Swathi Thirunal, the Travancore king, organized a government press in the city. The first Superintendent of the Press was the Rev. Sperschneider. The press was under Samathanam Maistry, one of the first batch of workmen trained in the Nagercoil Press.
