27 Air Defence Missile Regiment (Amritsar Airfield) is an Air Defence regiment of the Indian Army.
27 Air Defence Missile Regiment was raised on 1 February 1942 by Major (later Lt Col [3] ) HT Hogan at Malir Cantonment (presently in Pakistan) as the 3 Indian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment with the troop nucleus being of South Indian classes. [4]
At the time of its formation, the Regiment was equipped with Bofors 40 mm L-60 and American made anti-aircraft guns.
20th Lancers is an armoured regiment in the Armoured Corps of the Indian Army. The regiment distinguished itself in operations with its defence of Chhamb in Jammu and Kashmir during the 1965 Indo-Pakistan War and won one Maha Vir Chakra. Lieutenant General Abhay Krishna, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC is a retired officer of Indian Army. He served as General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command from 1 October 2018 following the retirement of Lieutenant General Balwant Singh Negi, to 30 September 2019. General Manoj Mukund Naravane, is a retired Indian Army General who served as the 28th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), as well as the temporary Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee from 15 December 2021 until his superannuation on 30 April 2022. During the Kargil War in 1999, he commanded 18 Garhwal Rifles which received the Chief of the Army Staff’s unit citation and the Battle Honour Drass and the Theatre Honour Kargil for feats of gallant action.
