The 27th Luna Awards were held on July 10, 2011 at the Quezon City Sports Club and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2008. It was delayed due to lack of government funding and was held together with the 29th Luna Awards.

The nominations were released on September 16, 2009. [1] Baler received the most nominations with ten. Caregiver followed with nine.

The winners were announced beforehand on March 25, 2011. [2] Baler dominated the ceremony by winning eight awards, including Best Picture. [3]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Luna Award</span> Award

The Luna Awards are awards given annually by the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) to recognize the outstanding achievements of the Filipino film industry. The first awards were presented in 1983 in Pasay. It is considered to be the Philippine counterpart of the Oscars. It used to be known as the FAP Awards until in 2005 when it got its current name. Since 2007, the Academy started holding simple awards ceremonies due to lack of government funding and reduction of its share from MMFF earnings. This also caused some delays for ceremony scheduling.

The 31st Luna Awards were held on June 1, 2013 at the Quezon City Sports Club and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2012.

The 30th Luna Awards were held on August 26, 2012 at the Quezon City Sports Club and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2011.

The 29th Luna Awards were held on July 10, 2011, at the Quezon City Sports Club and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2010. It was held together with the 27th Luna Awards.

The 26th Luna Awards were held on February 8, 2009, at the Mandarin Oriental Suites and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2007. It was delayed from September 2008 to February 2009 because the producer, Manio Events, encountered problems with sponsor solicitation. The Academy and the Film Development Council of the Philippines ended up producing the awards night.

The 25th Luna Awards were held on December 27, 2007 at Club Filipino and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2006. It was delayed due to lack of government funding.

The 24th Luna Awards were held on September 16, 2006 at PAGCOR Grand Theater and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2005. This is the last extravagant awards ceremony that was held by the Academy. After this, the Academy started holding simple ceremonies due to lack of government funding.
