The 31st Luna Awards were held on June 1, 2013 at the Quezon City Sports Club and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2012. [1] [2]

The list of nominations were released on May 3, 2013. [3] The Mistress received nominations in eleven out of twelve categories, only missing in the production design category. One More Try followed with eight.

Both The Mistress and El Presidente dominated the ceremony. [4] [5] The former garnered six awards while the latter won five awards, including the Best Picture. [6] [7]

Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, known professionally as Nora Aunor, is a Filipino actress, recording artist, and film producer. Members of the academy including avid movie viewers, fans or enthusiasts cast their votes on who should win the statuettes in the different categories they were nominated. Established in 1952, it is the oldest existing film industry award-giving body in the Philippines and one of the oldest in Asia. The FAMAS Award, from 1952 to 1982, was the highest Filipino film award a filmmaker or artisan could receive in the local movie industry.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Luna Award</span> Award

The Luna Awards are awards given annually by the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) to recognize the outstanding achievements of the Filipino film industry. The first awards were presented in 1983 in Pasay. It is considered to be the Philippine counterpart of the Oscars. It used to be known as the FAP Awards until in 2005 when it got its current name. Since 2007, the Academy started holding simple awards ceremonies due to lack of government funding and reduction of its share from MMFF earnings. This also caused some delays for ceremony scheduling.

The 30th Luna Awards were held on August 26, 2012 at the Quezon City Sports Club and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2011.

The 29th Luna Awards were held on July 10, 2011, at the Quezon City Sports Club and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2010. It was held together with the 27th Luna Awards.

The 27th Luna Awards were held on July 10, 2011 at the Quezon City Sports Club and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2008. It was delayed due to lack of government funding and was held together with the 29th Luna Awards.

The 23rd Luna Awards were held on May 14, 2005 at The Westin Philippine Plaza and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2004. This is the first time that "Luna" was used as the name of the awards. The new voting process was also fully implemented.

The 22nd FAP Awards were held on July 3, 2004 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and they honored the best Filipino films of the year 2003. This is the last time that "FAP" was used as the name of the awards and they were renamed to "Luna" in the subsequent ceremonies. This is also the last time that the old voting process was used.
