Hilda Koronel (born Susan Reid; January 17, 1957) is a MMFF, FAMAS, Luna and Urian award-winning Filipino actress. Born to a Filipino mother and an American father who was a serviceman in Clark Air Base, she has starred in around 45 films, many of which are critically acclaimed, since 1970.

She started her showbiz career in the early 1970s as a Lea Productions' contract star and was paired with Ed Finlan, Walter Navarro, Tirso Cruz, III and Jay Ilagan. Ilagan eventually became her husband. Because of her natural gift of acting, Lino Brocka took notice of her and directed her in a weekly drama show, entitled, Hilda. Her career got off to an unprecedented start becoming the youngest winner of the FAMAS Best Supporting Actress award in 1970 right at the beginning of her career which she won at the age of just 13 for her role in the 1970 film Santiago! . In 1975 and 1976, she starred in the Lino Brocka classics Manila in the Claws of Light , [2] which won six FAMAS awards in 1976, and Insiang , which won both a FAMAS Award and a Gawad Urian Award in 1977. To date she has won three awards and received 11 nominations.

In 2013, she received a Luna Award for best supporting actress for her role in The Mistress . [3] [4]

Personal life

She attended Manuel L. Quezon University in Quiapo for her secondary education and finished International Studies at Maryknoll College, now Miriam College. In May 2000, Koronel married Filipino-American businessman Ralph Moore, Jr. in Laughlin, Nevada. Koronel has 6 children. Leona, Ixara, and Patricia (with actor Jay Ilagan); Isabel (with Bambi del Castillo); Gabrielle (with Spanky Monserrat); and Diego (with Dr. Victor Lopez).

<i>Santiago!</i> (film) 1970 Filipino film directed by Lino Brocka

Santiago! is a 1970 Philippine war drama and action film directed by Lino Brocka and starring Fernando Poe Jr. and Dante Rivero. Set during World War II, the film depicts a weary guerilla, Gonzalo, who withdraws from the battlefield. The film is the second directorial assignment of Brocka following his debut offering "Wanted: Perfect Mother". The film is also the first and only collaboration of Brocka and Poe, and features a rare scene featuring FPJ shedding a tear. The film is likewise notable for being the vehicle for Hilda Koronel's acting debut which also brought her her first acting award.

Angela Markado is a 2015 Filipino revenge action thriller film written and directed by comic book writer Carlo J. Caparas. A remake of the 1980 film of the same name directed by Lino Brocka, it stars Andi Eigenmann as the titular character, alongside Paolo Contis, Felix Roco, Polo Ravales, CJ Caparas, Epy Quizon, Bembol Roco, Marita Zobel and Ana Roces. Produced by Oro de Siete Films, the film was released by Viva Films on December 2, 2015.

He made his screen debut in Lino Brocka's Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang (1974), won his first acting award for Best Actor at the FAMAS, and has since appeared in 160 motion pictures. He received wider recognition for his roles in the historical period films Banaue: Stairway to the Sky (1975), Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos (1976), and Ganito Kami Noon... Paano Kayo Ngayon? (1976), winning his second Best Actor at the FAMAS for the latter.
