MMFF chronology

The 38th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is a part of the annual film festival in Metro Manila, Philippines held from December 25, 2012 until January 8, 2013. During the festival, no foreign films are shown in Philippine theaters in order to showcase locally produced films (except in select 3D cinemas and IMAX theaters).

Entries

In the last week of May 2012, film producers and companies already submitted their scripts in participation with the festival. However, it will still be reviewed by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority to sort out entries. Of the fifteen film entries submitted, eight were chosen as the official entries. Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang was one of the eight entries chosen, but the producer sent a letter to MMDA to pull out of the film festival. On October 19, 2012 it was replaced by Nora Aunor's Thy Womb . New Wave entries

The New Wave films were screened from December 18 to 22 as a prelude to the MMFF opening on December 25, 2012. [16] This year, the MMFF will continue the tradition of supporting independent films through a bigger, better and bolder New Wave Section.

<i>One More Try</i> (film) 2012 Filipino film

One More Try is a 2012 Filipino romantic drama film directed by Ruel S. Bayani and starring Angel Locsin, Angelica Panganiban, Dingdong Dantes and Zanjoe Marudo. Produced by Star Cinema, the film was released on December 25, 2012 as one of the eight official entries to the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival.

Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang was a withdrawn fantasy action-adventure film produced by Unitel Productions. The film is composed of two stories, "Pedrong Walang Takot" and "Mariang Alimango" derived from the short stories of Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang written by Severino Reyes. The film would have been directed by Mark Meilly, and Chris Martinez. The film also would have starred Richard Gomez, Paolo Contis, Sam Concepcion, Iza Calzado, Rufa Mae Quinto, Empress Schuck and Zsa Zsa Padilla. It was one of the 8 official entries for 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival but later on, the film sent a request letter to MMDA to pull out of the festival. On October 19, the film was replaced by Thy Womb.

The 32nd Metro Manila Film Festival was held in Manila, Philippines, from December 25, 2006 to January 7, 2007.

The 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), presented by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), was held from 25 December 2013 to the first week of January 2014. During the festival, no foreign films are shown in Philippine theaters in order to showcase locally produced films. For this year, eight film entries were chosen by the MMDA to be showcased in the festival. Contrary to previous years, the Enteng Kabisote, Panday, and Shake, Rattle & Roll films were not presented for this year's festival.

She also appeared in the South Korean film Thirst directed by Park Chan-wook. In 2021, she appeared in Huwag Kang Mangamba. She played the main antagonist role Agatha, a wicked stepmother of Joy, which is played by Francine Diaz. In 2016, she appeared in a Phil Giordano's award-winning short film SUPOT. During the film festival, no foreign films are shown in Philippine cinemas and theaters in order to showcase locally produced films. The film festival began on December 23, 2014 and was kicked off by the yearly Parade of Stars' float parade starting from the Quirino Grandstand. It is expected to run until January 7 of the following year.
