Vilma Santos, Christopher de Leon and their movie, Mano Po III: My Love topped the 2004 Metro Manila Film Festival. Santos and de Leon won the Best Actress and Best Actor awards respectively for their roles in Mano Po III: My Love , which was also awarded the Festival's Best Picture. The Best Supporting Actor and Actress awards went to Dennis Trillo for Aishite Imasu 1941: Mahal Kita and Rebecca Lusterio for Panaghoy sa Suba .

Cesar Montano's Panaghoy sa Suba also received six other awards including the prestigious Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Awards, Best Director for Montano, and the Second Best Picture among others. [1]

Panaghoy sa Suba, is a 2004 Visayan language film written, co-produced and directed by Cesar Montano. The film stars Montano, Juliana Palermo and Jacky Woo. Panaghoy sa Suba is a historical romance drama about a love triangle which takes place during the Second World War. Its themes concern Filipino nationalism and the legacies of colonialism.

Mano Po is a Filipino drama anthology film series produced by Regal Entertainment, and is one of the most successful film series produced in the history of Philippine cinema, and the second longest-running Filipino film series, the first being Shake, Rattle & Roll which had a total of 16 films with three episodes each. The series has seven productions and also includes Ako Legal Wife: Mano Po 4? and Bahay Kubo: A Pinoy Mano Po!. All episodes are directed by Joel Lamangan, with the exception of Mano Po 2: My Home (2003) which was helmed by Erik Matti, and Mano Po 7: Chinoy (2016) which was helmed by Ian Loreños. The series focuses on the ways and traditions of the Chinese Filipino community.
