Singapore International Film Festival

The 35th annual Singapore International Film Festival was held from 28 November to 8 December 2024 in Singapore. A total of 105 films from 45 countries were screened during the festival. [1] The festival opened with Yeo Siew Hua's Stranger Eyes . [2]

Contents

Drama film Mongrel won the festival's main award Silver Screen Award for Best Asian Film. [3]

Lake Urmia, which is affected by falling water level and increasing salinity, was the filming location for the fictional setting of a salt-encrusted land.

Taxi, also known as Taxi Tehran, is a 2015 Iranian docufiction starring and directed by Jafar Panahi. The film premiered in competition at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Golden Bear and the FIPRESCI Prize. In 2010, Panahi was banned from making films and travelling for 20 years, so his niece Hana Saeidi, who also appears in the film, collected the award on his behalf.

Stranger Eyes is a 2024 internationally co-produced mystery thriller film directed by Yeo Siew Hua starring Lee Kang-sheng and Wu Chien-ho.

The 34th annual Singapore International Film Festival was held from 30 November to 10 December 2023 in Singapore. A total of 101 films from 50 countries were screened during the festival. With two co-productions and three feature films, this year broke the record for the highest number of films selected in competition by Singaporean directors since 1997. Amanda Nell Eu's feature directorial debut Tiger Stripes opened the festival. Drama film Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell won the festival's main award Silver Screen Award for Best Asian Film.
