4 Pics 1 Word is a 2013 word puzzle game created by LOTUM GmbH and released for iOS and Android. [1]
4 Pics 1 Word's gameplay is very simple: each level displays four pictures linked by one word; the player's aim is to work out what the word is, from a set of letters given below the pictures. [2] Players will find themselves seeing commonalities between two or three photos but being unable to figure out the linking word. [1] This game has endless content and daily challenges that will keep players coming back. The game is said to follow the freemium model: although the game is free, microtransactions are available to help the user progress through the game more quickly. [3]
The game is written from an English dialect perspective, as well as contains some unfamiliar words, causing some people to turn to cheating sites or apps to get the correct answers. [4] According to psychology PhD Jamie Madigan, "people are more likely to cheat when they are anonymous, and they'll cheat less the more they are connected to other gamers—the more, in other words, that they are known." [5]
4 Pics1 Word has received mostly positive reviews. PC Advisor gave the Android version 4/5, praising its entertainment value, but stating that the social aspect could be improved. [1] Pocket-lint featured it as their "App of the Day" on the 25th February 2013, praising both its simplicity, and its social aspect. [6] What Mobile also gave it 4/5, praising its simplicity and execution, whilst criticizing its frequency of highlighting the "hint" button. [7]

Rymdkapsel is a 2013 minimalist real-time strategy video game by indie developer Grapefrukt, the studio of Martin Jonasson. Reviewers gave the game generally favorable reviews, where they appreciated its simplicity and challenge, but not its brevity and slow start.

Letterpress is a 2012 turn-based word game developed by Loren Brichter and published by Atebits. In the game, two players take turns creating words with letter tiles and aim to cover the most territory. A tile can be locked by claiming those surrounding it, and the game concludes when all 25 tiles are claimed. The game's development started in November 2011 after Brichter left Twitter, Inc. Focused on combining words with color, he based the game design on Boggle, color wars, and SpellTower. The gameplay gradually evolved during beta testing; in the prototype, players avoided using unclaimed tiles, leading to excessively long games. To remedy this, Brichter made surrounded tiles unclaimable.

Agar.io is a massive multiplayer online action game created by Brazilian developer Matheus Valadares. Players control one or more circular cells in a map representing a Petri dish. The goal is to gain as much mass as possible by eating cells and player cells smaller than the player's cell while avoiding larger ones which can eat the player's cells. Each player starts with one cell, but players can split a cell into two once it reaches a sufficient mass, allowing them to control multiple cells. The name comes from the substance agar, used to culture bacteria.
