8 November (Azerbaijani : 8 Noyabr) is a station on the third (purple) line of the Baku Metro. [1] The station was named to commemorate Victory Day of Azerbaijan. [2]
Preparations for the construction of B-3 and B-4 stations started back in 2012, when the traffic on Ceyhun Selimov Street and Jalil Mammadguluzade Street for each station, respectively, was blocked. [3] Over the next 4 years, tunnels were laid from Memar Ajami-2 station. After the opening of the first two stations of the purple line, the Baku Metro announced that the third station would open in 2018. [4]
The station was planned to be opened in 2018, [5] [6] but the work was not completed and the opening was postponed to 2019. [7] The deputy chairman of CJSC Baku Metro stated that there was a delay due to natural and geological problems. A new station opening date of 2020 was announced, but the works were also not completed on time. [8]
On 8 December, by order of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the station was named "8 November", in honour of the victory in the Second Karabakh War. [9] The Cabinet of Ministers' decision states:
"On the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev the new station of the Baku Metro, located at 1065 block Ceyhun Salimov Street, Nasimi district, was named "November 8".
The official opening took place on 29 May 2021, when the station was visited by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. [10]
Heydar Aliyev International Airport is one of the seven international airports serving Azerbaijan. Heydar Aliyev International Airport is the busiest airport both in Azerbaijan and in the South Caucasus as well as one of the busiest in the post-Soviet countries. Formerly, it was called Bina International Airport, after a suburb of the Azerbaijan capital Baku.
Line 5 of the Saint Petersburg Metro, also known as Frunzensko-Primorskaya Line or Purple Line, is a newest rapid transit line in Saint Petersburg, Russia, opened in 2008, which connects the historical city centre to the northwestern and southern districts. It has 15 stations covering a total length of 26.2 kilometres (16.3 mi). Although it opened on 20 December 2008, parts of the line are considerably older. At its official opening in 2008, it included only two stations that opened concurrently with the line. On 7 March 2009, the Metro incorporated six existing stations of Line 4 (Pravoberezhnaya) into Line 5, expanding it to nine stations.
Darwin Bank is an Azerbaijani bank oil field in the Caspian Sea, 45 kilometres (28 mi) – 50 kilometres (31 mi) north-east of Baku and 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) west of Pirallahi Island. Industrially significant oil and natural gas resources were discovered here in the 1950s. To date, 16.2 million tons of oil and 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas were extracted. State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic is in the process of building a new oil platform which will be installed in the field for drilling of 12 wells in 2010. A similar platform No. 660 has already been commenced on site, and another platform for drilling of 20 wells is being finalized. Another platform operated by Absheronneft drilled two more wells in 2009 with an overall output of 7–8.5 tonnes of oil.
There are memorials around the globe dedicated to the Azerbaijani victims of the Khojaly massacre — mostly civilians, but also armed troops — by local irregular Armenian forces and the 366th CIS regiment in the town of Khojaly on 26 February 1992.
The 1994 Baku Metro bombings was a series of terrorist incidents that targeted the Baku Metro in Baku, Azerbaijan. The first attack was perpetrated at the 20 Yanvar metro station, while the second one took place between the 28 May and Ganjlik stations. As a result of the first attack, 14 people were killed and 49 wounded. The second attack resulted in 13 people killed and 42 injured.
The Nekrasovskaya line is the fifteenth metro line of the Moscow Metro. The first segment, between Kosino and Nekrasovka, was opened on 3 June 2019. The second segment was opened on 27 March 2020. City officials expect it to relieve passenger traffic on the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line once completed.
Heydar Aliyev's cult of personality, also known as Heydarism, became a significant part of Azerbaijani politics and society after he came to power in 1993 and continuing after his death in 2003, when his son Ilham Aliyev succeeded him. Aliyev, a former Soviet politburo member and the leader of Soviet Azerbaijan from 1969 to 1987, became the President of Azerbaijan in 1993. He then began to carefully design an autocratic system, with heavy reliance on family and clan members, oil revenues and patronage.
Mezhdunarodnaya is a Saint Petersburg Metro station on the Frunzensko-Primorskaya Line of the Saint Petersburg Metro. It was opened on December 28, 2012 together with Bukharestskaya as an extension of the Frunzensko-Primorskaya Line. It was the southeastern terminus of the line until 3 October 2019, when an extension of the line to the south with three stations, Prospekt Slavy, Dunayskaya, and Shushary, was opened.
Heydar Aliyev, the former President of Azerbaijan, died on 12 December 2003 in the Cleveland Clinic at 10 am local time from heart failure at the age of 80. On 14 December, his coffin was taken to Baku.
Rasskazovka is a station on the Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line of the Moscow Metro. It opened on August 30, 2018 as part of the "Ramenki" - "Rasskazovka" extension.
Zenit is a Saint Petersburg Metro station on the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya Line of the Saint Petersburg Metro. It opened on May 26, 2018 as Novokrestovskaya as part of the extension of the line to the north from Primorskaya. This extension also included the Begovaya station. Zenit is located between Primorskaya and Begovaya. The station was temporarily closed from April 2, 2020 to 10 June, 2021 as part of the measures taken against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Opening Ceremony of the 2015 European Games was the official opening ceremony held in the afternoon at 9:00PM Azerbaijan Time (GMT+4) on June 12, 2015 in the Baku Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan. It was attended by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, the Vice President of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, and the President of the European Olympic Committee Patrick Hickey.The ceremony was attended by 68,000 spectators gathered at the Olympic Stadium, as well as hundreds of millions of online viewers. More than 300 creative teams from 28 countries were involved in organizing the ceremony. The cost of organizing of the ceremony was about 100 million U.S. dollars. The opening ceremony was directed by artistic choreographer Dimitris Papaioannou who was praised for his work during 2004 Summer Olympics.
Yunusobod is a Tashkent Metro station on Yunusobod line. It was opened on 29 August 2020 together with Turkiston. The station is located between Shahriston and Turkiston stations.

Kuntsevskaya is a station on the Bolshaya Koltsevaya line of the Moscow Metro. It was opened on 7 December 2021 as part of the section between Mnyovniki and Kakhovskaya. A transfer to Kuntsevskaya is also planned.
Khagani Alley is a road from Rasul Rza alley to Kovkab Khanim Safaraliyeva alley. There are many historical monuments of the 16th to 20th centuries on the street, as well as a statue and three parks. The road is 1.7 kilometres (1.1 mi) in length.
Zivar bay Ahmadbayov Monument is a monument to the Azerbaijani architect Zivar bay Ahmadbayov, located in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in the Yasamal district of the city. The monument is placed in front of the Nizami Ganjavi metro station, in the park named in Zivar bay Ahmadbayov honour, on the Jafar Jabbarli street. The sculptor of the monument is Natig Aliyev, the People's Artist of Azerbaijan.
Potapovo is a station on the Sokolnicheskaya line of the Moscow Metro, in the Sosenskoye Settlement of the Novomoskovsky Administrative Okrug. The station is being constructed one stop past Novomoskovskaya, the former southwestern terminus of the Sokolnicheskaya line. It is the new southwestern terminus of the line.
