The 8th edition of the ICF Carrom cup was held in Pune, India from 2 to 6 December 2019. This was the 3rd consecutive ICF cup India has hosted. India won the men's team event and women's team event title.

Irshad Ahmed Ansari of India defeated 2018 World Cup winner Prashant More to claim his maiden international trophy in the men's singles event. In the women's singles event, S. Apoorva of India beat Ayesha Mohamed of India to complete a hat trick of international titles as she won the singles title in 2016 Carrom World Championship and 2018 Carrom World Cup. [1]

Men's team event

A total of 16 teams participated in the men's team event. The top 8 teams were selected to compete in a knockout round based on players' performance in the singles event. India defeated Sri Lanka (3-0) to win the men's title while Bangladesh beat Maldives (2-1) to win the bronze medal. [3] [4]

Women's team event

Seven teams participated in the women's team event. The top 4 teams qualified based on the players' performance in the singles event. India won the women's team event, beating Sri Lanka (3-0) in the finals. The Maldives women's team achieved 2nd rank for the first time in 12 years in the international arena. They beat Sri Lanka 2–1 in the semi-finals. Sri Lanka claimed 3rd place by beating Bangladesh with a 3–0 win. [3] [4]

Swiss league

86 players participated in the mixed singles event. A maximum of 8 (4 men and 4 women) players from each country was given entry to play in this event, whereas sixteen players from the host (India) competed in this event. Zaheer Pasha from India won the Swiss league undefeated and scoring 5 slams in 8 matches. Anil Munde from India claimed 2nd Place while 2014 World Cup Champion Komaravelli Srinivas was the 3rd rank.

Men's singles

A total of 32 players who qualified to singles event were divided in to 8 groups. The top 2 qualified to the round of 16. Irshad Ahmed of India beat world champion Prashant More 2–1 to claim the title. This tournament was Irshad Ahmed's first International. Prashant More failed to make history by winning 3 consecutive International titles. Rajesh Gohil of India beat fan's favourite Zaheer Pasha 2–1 to claim third place. [5]

24 players competed in the group stage. The top 2 from each group competed in the quarter-finals. S.Apoorva of India beat Ayesha Mohamed of India to complete a hatrick of international titles as she won the singles title in 2016 Carrom World Championship and 2018 Carrom World Cup. Former World Champion Rashmi Kumari of India beat young star Nagajyothi to win 3rd Place. [5]

R. Arokiaraj is a Carrom champion from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Arokiaraj was a city carrom champion.

The International Carrom Federation (ICF) is the international governing body for the game of carrom. Such an organisation was first proposed in the 1950s, but the ICF was not formed until October 1988, when delegates from India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Malaysia, Germany and Switzerland met in Madras, India, for the first World Carrom Congress, at which the ICF was formed and an international set of rules was adopted.

Rashmi Kumari is an International Carrom champion from Bihar, India, playing since 1992. She is employed on a scholarship basis at Union Bank of India, UBI in Patna. She also played for BSB in many tournaments.

Arun Deshpande is a coach of the Indian Carrom team. He is from Thane, in Maharashtra. He has also coached the Maharashtra Carrom team.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2017 SAFF U-18 Championship</span> International football competition

The 2017 SAFF U-18 Championship was the 2nd edition of the SAFF U-18 Championship, an international football competition for men's under-18 national teams organized by SAFF. But since most teams use to send their U-18 team keeping in mind 2018 AFC U-19 Championship qualification it has been officially changed to U-18 tournament. The tournament was hosted by Bhutan 18–27 September 2017.

The 2016 Carrom World Championship, was the 7th edition of an international Carrom tournament governed by the International Carrom Federation, contested from 7 to 11 November 2016 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Fifteen countries had competed in the tournament.

Chamil Darshana Cooray Bulathsinghalage is a Sri Lankan carrom player. He has been playing for Sri Lanka from 2004 to date who was also the captain of the Sri Lanka Men's Carrom team that won the 2016 Carrom World Championship in Birmingham, England. He was also the part of the Sri Lankan team in the 2012 Carrom World Championship where he finished 6th in the Men's Singles rankings

The 2018 Carrom World Cup was the 5th edition of the Carrom World Cup which held in the city of Chuncheon, South Korea for 7 days from 23 August to 26 August. This was staged as the first international carrom tournament since the 2016 Carrom World Championship and also marked the first Carrom World Cup to be held in South Korea. The World Cup was hosted in Chuncheon as a part of the 2018 World Leisure Games which includes other sports such as ice hockey, slalom, taekwondo and darts. Sri Lanka won the men's Carrom World Cup and India won the women's World Cup tournament in their respective finals mayil is the winner.

Kajal Kumari is an Indian female carrom player who represents India internationally and also works as an officer at the Indian Oil. During the 2018 Carrom World Cup, she created history by becoming the first ever woman to clinch the overall combined Swiss League title after defeating defending Swiss League champion Chamil Cooray of Sri Lanka in the combined Swiss League final.

The 2018 SAFF U-15 Championship was the fifth edition of the SAFF U-15 Championship, an international football competition for men's under-15 national teams organized by SAFF. The tournament was hosted by Nepal from October 25 to November 3, 2018, at ANFA Complex in Lalitpur, Nepal. Six out of seven teams from the region took part, as Sri Lanka later withdrew their team, and the teams were divided into two groups. On 3 November 2018, Bangladesh beat Pakistan to claim their second SAFF title.

Saikumar Apoorva also popularly known by her short name S. Apoorva also spelt as either S. Apoorwa or S. Appoorwa is an Indian carrom player and a defending carrom world champion in women's singles. She also currently works as a senior administrative officer in Life Insurance Corporation of India. She is also the first world champion in any sport to have emerged from the city of Hyderabad.

Women's cricket at the 2019 South Asian Games was held in Pokhara, Nepal from 2 to 8 December 2019. The women's event featured teams from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Nepal. Sri Lanka named an under-23 squad, while matches played between Bangladesh, Maldives and Nepal were granted Women's Twenty20 International status. Matches were played at the Pokhara Stadium.

Prashant More is an Indian carrom player. He is a two time carrom world champion in 2016 and 2018.

Irshad Ahmed Ansari is an Indian carrom player.

Roshita Joseph also spelt as Joseph Roshita is a Sri Lankan carrom player. She was also a former number 1 women’s carrom player in Sri Lanka and has won the national titles on six occasions. In 2020, she became a world champion in the women’s singles of the inaugural edition of the World Online Carrom Championship. She is currently attached to Sri Lankan Navy.

The 1995 South Asian Gold Cup is an international football tournament held in Sri Lanka from 25 March to 2 April 1995. The five national teams involved in the tournament were required to register a squad of 23 players, including three goalkeepers. Only players in these squads were eligible to take part in the tournament.
