    Pachhunga University College (PUC) is a public institute in Aizawl, Mizoram, and the only constituent college of Mizoram University, a central university established by an Act of Parliament of India. Founded in 1958 as Aijal College, it is the oldest and largest college in Mizoram, by enrolment and campus size. It started with intermediate of arts courses, and later expanded to bachelor's degrees in arts, commerce and science. With the opening of master's degree courses in Mizo, philosophy and life sciences, it became the first postgraduate college in Mizoram.

    Darchhawna was an Indian writer of Hindi literature and historian from the Northeast Indian state of Mizoram. Born on New Year's Day 1936, Darchhawna was an Officer on Special Duty at the Mizoram University, when it was the Mizoram campus of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and the founder President of the Mizo History Association. He held the post of the president of the organization for several terms, after getting elected in 2013. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2005, for his contributions to Indian literature. He died on 27 December 2023, at the age of 87.

    Laltluangliana Khiangte is a Mizo academic, playwright and poet of Mizo literature. He was the principal of the Serampore College and a former professor at Pachhunga University College and the North Eastern Hill University. He is presently serving as the senior most professor at the Department of Mizo at Mizoram University. He is a recipient of the Pu Buanga Award, the highest literary award of the Mizo Academy of Letters. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2006, for his contributions to Indian literature.

He is former Cabinet Minister in the Mizo National Front ministry and held the portfolios of Health, Higher & Technical Education and Commerce & Industries. He had been elected to the Mizoram Legislative Assembly from the South Tuipui constituency. He lost to Jeje Lalpekhlua in the 2023 MLA Election.

    Vivekananda College is a state government-aided public college, affiliated to the University of Calcutta, located in southwest Kolkata, close to the Thakurpukur metro station. The college offers both post-graduate and under-graduate courses in a number of subjects of science, arts and commerce. Founded in 1950 as Barisha College, it was established under the dispersal scheme of the state government to reduce the pressure of students from the then East Pakistan, now Bangladesh.
