ABM Abul Kashem was a Bangladesh Awami League politician and member of parliament for Chittagong-2 and Chittagong-4.
Kashem was elected to parliament in 2008 from Chittagong-3 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate. [1] He served as the chairman of the parliamentary committee for the Ministry of Commerce. [2]
Kashem's son,SM Al Mamun,tried to grab land from ship breaking companies in Sitakunda Upazila for his ship breaking company,Unique Ship-breaking Yard,on 7 October 2009. His son also assaulted journalists trying to cover the incident. [3] [4] Kashem later apologized for his son's actions. [5]

Kashem died on 24 November 2015 in Square Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh. [6]
Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh is an Islamist advocacy group consisted mostly of religious teachers (Ulama) and students in Bangladesh. The group is mainly based on qawmi madrasas in Bangladesh. In 2013, they submitted a 13-point charter to the government of Bangladesh, which included the demand for the enactment of a blasphemy law. Under recent years, Hefazat has been formed into more of a moderate and anti-terrorist ideology due to success of Awami League in ensuring jobs and mobilising qawmi madrasa.
Hasan Mahmud is a politician from Bangladesh Awami League. He is a former minister of foreign affairs for the fifth Hasina ministry, and a former member of parliament from Chittagong-7. In 2019, he was appointed as the minister of information and broadcasting for the fourth Hasina ministry. Mahmud is accused as one of the perpetrators of the July massacre.
