ACODA are a Four-piece alternative rock band from Corby, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom. Formed in 2008, the band consists of vocalist/guitarist Damon Tang, bassist/vocalist Stephen Crook, guitarist/vocalist Jake Crawford and drummer/vocalist Jay Russell. The band are known for their energetic and emotive live shows [1] and blending the musical influences of rock, metal, punk rock, progressive metal and post-hardcore. [2]

They were named in the top 10 best unsigned UK bands by Kerrang! magazine in September 2011. [3]

Their debut EP ACODA was released on 19 March 2012 and received commendations from Kerrang!, Rock Sound Magazine and Metal Hammer magazine. The release saw the band tour extensively, including appearances at Download Festival and Slam Dunk Festival. [4]

On 12 August 2013, Acoda signed to Best Before Records [5] and released their debut full-length album Yours to Defend on 28 October 2013. They have also gone on to release their 6-track EP, Round the Sun in May 2014. Their album 'TRUTH SEEKER' [6] was released through Best Before Records [5] on 30 March 2015 featuring singles "Whispers Like Roars", "Make It Up As You Go", "'Round The Sun" and "Won't Go Running".

Biography

In 2009, Acoda recorded a home studio demo of six tracks. On the back of shows in mainland Europe, the band continued to tour the UK DIY circuit, whilst writing new music. [7]

In 2010, the band teamed up with local music producer Justin Gleich to record the single "Finding Your Feet" and its B-side "Paint By Numbers" at Premier Studios, Corby. Acoda signed to Small Town Records for the single release. [8] [ non-primary source needed ]

In April 2011, Acoda entered the studio to record twelve tracks with producer Dan Lancaster. The drums were recorded at Middle Farm Studios, Devon and the remaining instrumentals at Studio Glasseye, Hertfordshire. The album was mastered by Alan Douches (Thrice, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Brand New, Misery Signals, Mastodon) at West West Side Music in New York.

In June 2011, the band played their first major festival performance at Download Festival on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam stage, [9] followed by a gig on the River Thames on HMS Metal Hammer. [10] The remainder of the summer saw performances at Sonisphere Festival, [11] T in the Park, [12] Hevy and Underage Festivals. [13]

Acoda ended 2011 being named one of the Top 10 best unsigned bands in Britain by Kerrang! magazine. [3]

On 19 March 2012, Acoda released the four track EP ACODA to critical acclaim from Kerrang!, Rock Sound and Metal Hammer magazines. The lead single "I Creep" received airplay on the Radio One Rock Show. [14] The band supported the record with performances at Download Festival, Hevy Music Festival, Camden Crawl and Slam Dunk Festivals [15] and played gigs in places such as London and Nottingham, amongst others. [16] On 20 August 2012, the band released This Is Life and supported it with shows in England, Scotland and Wales.[ citation needed ]

In February 2013, the band returned to Studio GlassEye, Herts to record the 'Round The Sun EP with producer Dan Lancaster.[ citation needed ]

2013 saw the band continue to play gigs in places such as Birmingham, Southampton, Bristol and Sheffield, amongst others [17] and support slots for bands like Funeral for a Friend. [18]

On 27 June, Acoda released the track "The Future Is Yours to Defend" [19] and announced that the debut full-length album Yours to Defend would be released through Best Before Records worldwide on 9 September 2013.

On 12 August 2013, Acoda signed to Best Before Records for the release of Yours to Defend and announced a new release date of 28 October 2013.

The band's second album "Truth Seeker" was self-produced and mixed/mastered by Jay Russell. Released through Best Before Records 4/2015 featuring the singles 'Whispers Like Roars', 'Make It Up As You Go', 'Won't Go Running' and 'Round The Sun'. The singles received radio play on Kerrang! and BBC Radio.

On 27 September 2019 ACODA released 'Ready Or Not' independently via Spotify and shows with the likes of Black Peaks (band) and Press To Meco followed. Recorded at Parlour Studios, Northamptonshire by Jay Russell.

Cancer Bats is a Canadian hardcore punk band from Toronto, Ontario. Gallows were an English hardcore punk band from Watford, Hertfordshire. The band was formed in 2005 after Laurent Barnard's previous band disbanded. Gallows' debut album, Orchestra of Wolves, was distributed in the United States by Epitaph Records. The band were subsequently signed to Warner Bros. Records for a £1 million album contract, and released their second album Grey Britain in 2009. Rise to Remain was an English, London-based heavy metal band formed in 2006 and disbanded in 2015. The band made appearances at Download Festival, Sonisphere Festival and extensively toured the UK and Europe. On 16 March 2011 they signed their first major recording contract with EMI records, which was accompanied by the launch of their website and a free single download entitled "The Serpent". You and What Army were an English four-piece electronic rock band formed in 2007, originating from Telford. It consisted of David Brown, Kieran Charles Smith, Jamie Hancox and Zak Hammond from 2008, and previously with Joseph Allen (guitar), Darren Smith (bass), and Thomas Bridgwater (drums). Although they are predominantly a rock band, they combine several different musical styles into their sound and are mainly influenced by heavy metal and electronic music.

The Defiled were a four-piece British band from London mixing groove-laden hardcore/metal with industrial music influences. They have been described by Kerrang! magazine as "The saviours of UK Metal" and championed by Metal Hammer as one of the leaders in a new wave of British metal along with bands such as While She Sleeps, Bury Tomorrow and Devil Sold His Soul. The band have built a fanbase following support slots with bands such as Murderdolls, Static-X, Godsmack, Deathstars and Motionless in White as well as playing Bloodstock, Download and Sonisphere festivals.

The Blackout are a post-hardcore rock band from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, formed in 2003. They released their EP The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout! In October 2007 the band released their debut album, We Are the Dynamite. Their second record, The Best in Town, was released on 25 May 2009 in Europe and 23 June 2009 in the US, both via Epitaph Records. The band's third album - titled Hope, was released on 4 April 2011, and charted at number 27 in the UK album chart. Their fourth studio album, titled Start the Party, was released on 21 January 2013. The Blackout's final release was a five track EP entitled Wolves, with their farewell tour held in early 2015, finishing in their hometown of Merthyr Tydfil on Saturday 28 March 2015.

Formed in 2006, the group consists of vocalist Lawrence Taylor, guitarists Sean Long and Mat Welsh, bassist Aaran McKenzie and drummer Adam Savage. They are currently signed to their own label Sleeps Brothers in the UK and in collaboration with Spinefarm Records in the US and UNFD in Australia. They have released three EPs, And This Is Just the Start, Split and The North Stands for Nothing, and five studio albums, This Is the Six, Brainwashed, You Are We, So What? and Sleeps Society. They received the Best British Newcomer award at the Kerrang! Awards 2012. The group has maintained the same line-up since its formation, with vocalist Taylor being the only bandmate who is not an original member. Despite this, he has still appeared on every release apart from the group's first two EPs.

Blitz Kids were an English alternative rock band originating from Nantwich and Crewe, Cheshire, England.

The One Hundred is an English crossover band from London, combining elements of metalcore, punk, grime, rap and electronics. The band released their debut EP Subculture in 2014 via Australian independent label UNFD and have toured extensively across the United Kingdom and Europe as well as performing at major festivals such as Sonisphere, Download Festival and Reading and Leeds. In September 2016 the band announced via their social media that they had signed to Spinefarm Records, a division of Universal Music Group.
