A Place in the World is the third studio album by Australian rock band The Black Sorrows. The album was released in November 1985. All tracks were written by band members Joe Camilleri and Nick Smith, except "Let the Four Winds Blow".
The Canberra Times' Debbie Cameron noted the album was, "a cocktail of styles — from a strong piano accordion and calypso sound in "A Place in the World", to good dancing in "Country Girls", through a rocky but unremarkable "The Final Touch" and to a tragic "Sons of the Sea"". [1] Although Cameron preferred Sonola , she found A Place in the World had "the action, the beat and the melody of Ry Cooder". [1]

Ratcat are an Australian indie rock band from Sydney who formed in 1985. The band is fronted by mainstay vocalist and guitarist, Simon Day. Their combination of indie pop song writing and energetic punk-style guitar rock won them fans from both the indie and skate-punk communities. They found mainstream success with their extended play, Tingles, album Blind Love and the single, "Don't Go Now" (April), which all reached No. 1 on the ARIA Charts during 1991. The band released two subsequent albums, however they did not match the earlier chart success. Ratcat ceased performing live regularly in the late 1990s, however they continue to perform sporadically. During their career, much of Ratcat's albums and singles artwork was created by Simon Day.
Laughing Clowns, sometimes written as The Laughing Clowns, is a post-punk band formed in Sydney in 1979. In five years, the band released three LPs, three EPs, and various singles and compilations. Laughing Clowns' sound is free jazz, bluegrass and krautrock influenced. The band formed to accommodate Ed Kuepper's growing interest in expanding brass-driven elements he had brought to The Saints' third album, Prehistoric Sounds, and by adopting flattened fifth notes in a rock and roll setting while using a modern jazz styled band line-up.
Joseph Vincent Camilleri, aka Jo Jo Zep or Joey Vincent, is a Maltese Australian singer-songwriter and musician. Camilleri has recorded as a solo artist and as a member of Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons and The Black Sorrows. Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons' highest charting single was "Hit & Run" from June 1979, which peaked at #12; Jo Jo Zep's "Taxi Mary" peaked at No. 11 in September 1982; and The Black Sorrows top single, "Chained to the Wheel", peaked at No. 9 in March 1989.
Vika and Linda, also known as Vika and Linda Bull, are an Australian vocal duo consisting of Vika Susan Bull and her younger sister, Linda Rose Bull. They came to prominence after singing backing vocals in Joe Camilleri's band The Black Sorrows from 1988. They left that group early in 1994 to start their duo with a self-titled album appearing in June that year. The duo scored their first number 1 album in 2020, with their retrospective 'Akilotoa: Anthology (1994-2006).

The Black Sorrows are an Australian blues rock band formed in 1983 by mainstay vocalist Joe Camilleri, who also plays saxophone and guitar. Camilleri has used various line-ups to record 17 albums, with five reaching the top 20 on the ARIA Albums Charts: Hold on to Me, Harley and Rose, Better Times, The Chosen Ones - Greatest Hits and Lucky Charm. Roarin' Town is the eleventh studio album by Australian rock band The Black Sorrows. The album was released in October 2006. It was the first studio album from The Black Sorrows since Beat Club in 1998. Camilleri said he wrote the tracks throughout 2005 and called the song "What Levi Wants", the son of "Harley + Rose", "not because they sound like each other, it just started to speak in the same way."
Amazing Stories is the debut studio album by Australian blues-rock band The Revelators. The album was released in 1991 and consisted of cover versions of soul and blues songs. The album was re-released in March 1993 as a 2CD pack with The Black Sorrows' Better Times and peaked at number 14 on the ARIA Chart. The album was re-released in 2002 with two additional tracks from the original sessions that were not included on the first pressing, Those being "Honest I Do" and "Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down"
The Very Best of the Black Sorrows is the second greatest hits album by Australian rock and blues band The Black Sorrows. The album includes 38 songs from the band's entire career and includes singles and album tracks, all of which are digitally remastered. The album was released in Australia in 1997 and internationally on 25 August 1998. The album is out of print and considered a collectors item by The Black Sorrows' fans.
Crooked Little Thoughts is the thirteenth studio album by Australian rock band The Black Sorrows. The album was released as a 3CD + 72 page book package in February 2012. All tracks were written by Joe Camilleri and Nick Smith and each track is accompanied by a painting by Australian artist Victor Rubin.
