Aaron George Calder (born 9 January 2006) is a British politician and freelance events technician serving as a town councillor of Spennymoor since November 2025.
Calder was born in Windermere, Cumbria, where he spent his childhood engaged in mountain biking and train spotting. He attended North East Futures UTC from 2020 until 2022 and subsequently enrolled in Gateshead College, where he attended until 2023.
In 2019, Calder joined Bishop Trains as a travel consultant and was subsequently employed until 2022. After departing Bishop Trains, Calder launched his freelance events technician career.
In 2023, Calder joined the JC Events AV team as a technician, leaving the company in 2024.
Political career
In 2025, Calder stood as a candidate for the Liberal Democrats for the ward of Willington and Hunwick in the 2025 Durham County Council election, however was unsuccessful. [1]
Calder was elected as a councillor for the Spennymoor Town Council on 27 November 2025 for the Liberal Democrats. [2] He has since asserted that his presence on the council “signals a new era” and has vowed to “deliver nothing short of excellence at every meeting.”
