Aathmika (born 9 February 1993) [1] [2] is an Indian actress and model who works in Tamil cinema. She made her debut through the role of Vennila in the film Meesaya Murukku (2017).

Early life

Aathmika was born in Coimbatore [3] She moved to Chennai to complete her graduation from M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women. [4] Her father died on 26 June 2020. [5]

Career

Aathmika began her acting career by acting in a short film directed by Rajiv Menon. Her interest in acting began in college where she had been part of few short films and did a couple of modelling assignments. [3] She was then given the female lead role in Meesaya Murukku by Adhi of Hiphop Tamizha who found her profile online. [6] [7] Aathmika received a good response for her performance in that film. [8] [9] [10] [11] She signed her second film Naragasooran , directed by Karthik Naren, in 2017. [12] [3] [13] In the same year she was a judge at the OPPO Chennai Times Fresh Face 2017. [14]

In 2018, Aathmika replaced Oviya in Kaatteri among the three female lead roles. [15] In February 2019, she joined actor Udhayanidhi Stalin in Mu. Maran's Kannai Nambathey. [16] In September 2020, Aathmika began filming for Kodiyil Oruvan , directed by Anand Krishnan. [17] [18] The film was released in 2021, becoming her second release due to her previous films' release being delayed. [19]

He stars as the lead along with newcomer Aathmika as the female lead, while Vivek, RJ Vigneshkanth and Vijayalakshmi play supporting roles. The film, a partly fictionalised biopic of Adhi's early life, was released on 21 July 2017 to mostly positive reviews and was a box-office hit. It was later remade in Kannada in 2019 as Padde Huli.

Kaatteri is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language comedy horror film written and directed by Deekay and produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under his production banner Studio Green. The film stars Vaibhav, Sonam Bajwa, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Aathmika, while Karunakaran, Ravi Mariya, and Kutty Gopi play supporting roles. The film's music is composed by S. N. Prasad with editing by Praveen K. L. and cinematography by Vignesh Vasu. The film released theatrically on 5 August 2022 and was a box-office bomb.

<i>Kannai Nambathey</i> 2023 Indian film

Kannai Nambathey is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language crime thriller film written and directed by Mu. Maran. The film stars Udhayanidhi Stalin in his penultimate acting credit, Prasanna, Srikanth, and Aathmika, while Bhumika, Vasundhara Kashyap, and Sathish play supporting roles. The music was composed by Siddhu Kumar with cinematography by Jalandhar Vasan and editing by San Lokesh. The film released theatrically on 17 March 2023 and received mixed reviews from critics.

Following the success of Meesaya Murukku and Natpe Thunai, Sundar C co-produced Adhi's third film and it became a hat-trick hit. Hiphop Tamizha and Iswarya Menon and K. S. Ravikumar is playing a villain role, while Badava Gopi and Eruma Saani Vijay are playing supporting roles. It is a feature film version of Raana's own short film Keka Beka Keka Beka. The film released on 14 February 2020 to mixed reviews.

Kodiyil Oruvan is a 2021 Indian Tamil-language political action drama film written and directed by Ananda Krishnan, and produced by Infiniti Film Ventures and Chendur Film International. It stars Vijay Antony and Aathmika. Vijay Antony also edited the film while the music is composed by Nivas K. Prasanna.
