Abbott Cove (sometimes written Abbot Cove) is a bay and site of a former community in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. [1]

The 1913 McAlpine Gazetteer lists the community in "Twillingate District" and states that the nearest post town is Fortune Harbour. [2]

An 1884 pilot guide discusses an Abbot Cove in Notre Dame Bay:

Eastern point, the extreme of a narrow promontory rising to a wooded cone, 390 feet high. Foul ground extends a short distance from the head, and sunken rocks encumber Abbot cove, the bight close east of Eastern point. A conspicuous hill, 435 feet high, falls perpendicularly to the head, where a small village is situated. [3]

Facheux Bay is a deep fjord that separates Eastern Head and Western Head of Hermitage Bay, Newfoundland, Canada. Facheux bay is 2.25 miles (3.62 km) west of Mosquito Cove. The entrance is between two steep falls in high hills. The bay runs in 6.5 miles (10.5 km), with an average width of 0.75 miles (1.21 km), and has deep water throughout. On the west side are three coves with anchorage in 20 to 10 fathoms.

Tilt Cove is a town located southeast of Baie Verte on Notre Dame Bay and was founded in 1813. With an official population of 5 at the 2021 census, Tilt Cove is known as "Canada's smallest town." A source of gold, copper, and zinc ores, Tilt Cove was the site of the first mine in Newfoundland. The Tilt Cove mine opened in 1864 and "was soon employing several hundred men at good wages". Postal service was established in 1869.
