Abdirahman Yusuf Ali Aynte is a Somali politician and journalist. He previously worked for the BBC,VOA and Al Jazeera English. He was the former Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of Somalia,having been appointed to the position on 27 January 2015 by the then Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke. [1] He held that position until April 2017.
Between April–October 2017,Aynte was a Senior Advisor to the President of Somalia,H.E. Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo Among other tasks,he was responsible for planning and delivering the International London Conference on Somalia in May 2017. Aynte also helped President Farmaajo on policies and procedures governing Official Development Assistance (ODA).
In November 2017,Aynte joined the United Nations as Director of Policy Planning and Strategy based in the Middle East.
During his tenure as Minister,Aynte was credited with overseeing the drafting of Somalia's first National Development Plan (NDP),a three-year comprehensive economic recovery blueprint. The NDP came after exhaustive consultations with Federal Member States,civil society and the private sector. It was approved by the Federal Member States,and was subsequently endorsed at the historic London Conference on Somalia in May 2017. Aynte was widely praised for successfully ending the New Deal Compact for Somalia,and replacing it with the NDP—a Somali-led,Somali-drafted document.
Aynte has also been credited with the release of the first Population Estimate Survey (PES) in Somalia in 30 years. Although the PES sparked national controversy because it released figures for Somalia's 18 administrative regions,it was widely welcomed as the first reliable data on population. Aynte was considered one of the most accomplished ministers during the Sharmarke Premiership.
In his capacity as the Minister of International Cooperation,MAynte forged a very close relationship with traditional (western) and non-traditional donors,bringing them together on a common platform. He also nudged them to align their support behind Somalia's new National Development Plan and gradually phase out the New Deal Compact for Somalia.
Since February 2017 Mr Aynte has been a Senior Advisor to the new President of Somalia,Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo. Aynte was handling international and development portfolios. He was the chief organizer of the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony on 22 February. Later he was the head of delivery team of the London Conference on Somalia in May 2017. The London Conference on Somalia brought together over 43 countries and international organizations,and was considered a major success.
Before joining the Somali government,Aynte was the founder and Executive Director of the Heritage Institute for Policy Studies (HIPS),the first think tank in Somalia. During that period,Aynte regularly appeared on local and international media. He also frequently spoke at international platforms and even testified before the U.S. Senate on Somalia.
Before founding HIPS,Aynte was a journalist and editor for over 10 years. For nearly four years,he was a Senior News Editor at Al Jazeera English,and also reported for the BBC and the VOA.
Aynte holds M.A. in Government and International Studies from the Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC,and a B.A. in Journalism and Political Science from the Metropolitan State University in St. Paul,Minnesota.
Aynte is the son of Yusuf Ali Aynte,a scholar of Islamic Studies and author. The Senior Aynte was also a former Member of Somalia's Parliament and continues to be a prominent civil society leader in Mogadishu.
The Majeerteen, alternately known as MohammedHarti,are a prominent Somali sub-clan of the Harti,which falls under the Darod conglomerate of clans. Traditionally,they inhabit extensive territories in the Bari,Nugaal,and Mudug regions of Somalia,spanning from Bosaso to Garacad,mainly in Puntland state. Additionally,Majeerteen populations are present in southern towns such as Kismayo.
The Harti,(Somali:Harti),are a Somali clan that trace their lineage back to SalehAbdi (Harti). They are a sub-clan of the larger Darod clan. Notable sub-clans within Harti include the Majeerteen,Dhulbahante,and the Warsengeli. They predominantly reside in the apex of the Horn of Africa and its surrounding regions. Furthermore,in the southern territories,the clan's settlements span both sides of the Kenya-Somalia border.

He subsequently briefly served as Somalia's Ambassador to the United States in 2014. In December 2014,Sharmarke was reappointed Prime Minister of Somalia. His term ended on 1 March 2017,and he was replaced by Hassan Ali Khaire.
Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed,also known as Farmaajo,is a Somali politician who served as president of Somalia from 2017 to 2022. He was prime minister of Somalia for six months,from November 2010 to June 2011. Mohamed is the founder and leader of the Tayo Party since 2012.
Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas,also more known as Abdiweli Gaas,is a Somali American economist and politician. He served as the Prime Minister of Somalia from June 2011 to October 2012,and briefly afterwards as an MP in the newly formed Federal Parliament. During his time as premier,Ali is credited with having devised the formal "Roadmap for the End of Transition",a political process that provided clear benchmarks leading toward the establishment of permanent democratic institutions in the country. On 8 January 2014,he was elected the 5th President of the Puntland.
Haji Bashir Ismail Yusuf,commonly referred to as Haji Bashir,was a Somali politician. He was a prominent Somali Youth League (SYL) member and the first President of the Somali National Assembly during the Somali Republic's early civilian administration.

Fahad Yasin Haji Dahir,,commonly known only as Fahad Yasin,is a Somali civil servant and politician,as well as a former journalist. He was also the campaign manager for Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed "Farmaajo" in the 2017 elections. After the elections,he was appointed Chief of Staff for Villa Somalia and then Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). Farmaajo subsequently appointed him as his national security advisor. The intelligence offices of the Somali regional governments (under the National Intelligence Directorate had appointed Abdalla Yasin Jama Mohamed Dalaf as the director of head of intelligence and submission of terrorist information for the Puntland regional government.
Qatar–Somalia relations are the bilateral relations between Qatar and Somalia. The two countries formally established relations in 1970 and are both members of the Arab League and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
Indirect presidential elections were held in Somalia on 8 February 2017. Members of parliament elected in the autumn-2016 parliamentary election elected former Prime Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed to the post of President of Somalia for a four-year term.

Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed (Laftagareen) عبدالعزيزحسنمحمد(Somali:Cabdicasiis Xasan Maxamed) is the fourth president of the South West State of Somalia who was elected by representatives of South West regional state assembly on December 19th,2018. In 2019,Laftagareen had a committee appointed to deal with security issues. Laftagareen had close ties with former president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo,in which he served as a minister before becoming the president of the regional state.
Abdisaid Muse Ali is a Somali politician and was the National Security Advisor to the President of Somalia from 2017 to 2021,and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia to from 2021 to 2022. Ali was forced to leave office after he was suspended by then Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble over an alleged crime which was later dismissed,and has not run for political office since. As Foreign Affairs Minister,Ali increased cooperation between Somalia and China and fought against growing Somaliland–Taiwan relations.
