Abdul Rahman Khan was an Azad Kashmiri politician who served as interim President of Azad Kashmir from 7 October 1969 to 30 October 1970 and again from 1983 to 1985. [1]
Azad Jammu and Kashmir,abbreviated as AJK and colloquially referred to as simply Azad Kashmir,is a region administered by Pakistan as a nominally self-governing entity and constituting the western portion of the larger Kashmir region,which has been the subject of a dispute between India and Pakistan since 1947. The territory shares a border to the north with Gilgit-Baltistan,together with which it is referred to by the United Nations and other international organizations as "Pakistani-administered Kashmir". Azad Kashmir also shares borders with the Pakistani provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the south and west,respectively. On its eastern side,Azad Kashmir is separated from the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir by the Line of Control (LoC),which serves as the de facto border between the Indian- and Pakistani-controlled parts of Kashmir. Geographically,the administrative territory of Azad Jammu and Kashmir covers a total area of 13,297 km2 (5,134 sq mi) and has a total population of 4,045,366 as per the 2017 national census.
Abul Kalam Ghulam Muhiyuddin Ahmed bin Khairuddin Al-Hussaini Azad was an Indian independence activist,Islamic theologian,writer and a senior leader of the Indian National Congress. Following India's independence,he became the First Minister of Education in the Indian government. Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan was the key instigator of the 1947 Poonch Rebellion in the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir and the later establishment of Azad Kashmir under Pakistani administrative control. He served as the first President of Azad Kashmir. His dismissal in 1950 led to the 1955 Poonch Uprising against Pakistan. He served as the president thrice afterwards,ending his last term in 2001.
The Azad Kashmir Regiment,also known as AK Regt,is one of the seven infantry regiments in the Pakistan Army. The Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy,abbreviated as MAKA Trophy,is a sports honour of the Republic of India. The award is named after Abul Kalam Azad commonly referred to as Maulana Azad,one of the senior leaders of Indian independence movement and first Minister of Education in independent India. It is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It is a rolling trophy awarded to the "overall top performing University in sports and promoting competitive sports in University" over the preceding year. As of 2020,the award for the university securing first position comprises "a rolling MAKA trophy and a cash prize of ₹15 lakh (US$19,000)". The second- and third-place universities receive cash prizes of ₹7.5 lakh (US$9,400) and ₹4.5 lakh (US$5,600) respectively.
