Atiq Ahmed was a notorious Indian gangster and politician. He served as a member of the Indian Parliament and the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Samajwadi Party. Ahmed had more than 160 criminal cases registered against him and competed in several elections from jail. As of March 2023,the Uttar Pradesh Police had seized properties worth ₹11,684 crore (US$1.4 billion) belonging to Ahmed and his family. In 2019,he was convicted of kidnapping a witness who testified against him regarding the 2005 murder of his political rival Raju Pal. Ahmed remained in jail until his assassination by three gunmen on his way to a court-mandated medical checkup on 15 April 2023.

Kuldeep Singh Sengar is an Indian politician and former member of Legislative Assembly belonging to the Bhartiya Janta Party from Unnao district,Uttar Pradesh who has been convicted of rape,murder,attempt to murder,criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation. He is the main defendant in the Unnao rape case and was booked under the POCSO Act. He is also accused of killing three people,including the victim's father in police custody and later her aunts by a conspired truck accident. A Delhi District and Sessions Court upheld an investigation conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that had ruled out any foul play in the Unnao rape survivor's accident in 2019.

Haji Parvez Ahmad is a Samajwadi Party politician who has served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Uttar Pradesh,India. He was elected by a margin of 414 votes to the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh in 2012 from Allahabad South constituency,when his closest rival was Nand Gopal Gupta of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). He lost the same seat to Gupta,who had moved from the BSP to the Bharatiya Janata Party,in the 2017 elections. The winning margin on that occasion was 28,587 votes.
The 2022 Indian presidential election was the 16th presidential election in India held on 18 July 2022 to elect the president of India. The incumbent president Ram Nath Kovind did not run for reelection. The election had a turnout of 99.12%.
Aam Aadmi Party Delhi or AAP Delhi is a state wing of Aam Aadmi Party. AAP became a state party in Delhi in 2013. The party contested its first election in Delhi in 2013 and was successful in winning 28 seats in a hung assembly. It got outside support from Indian National Congress and Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi but he resigned after 49 days due to differences with INC. In the following 2015 elections,AAP won 67 of the 70 seats in the assembly,limiting BJP at just 3 seats and INC with none and Kejriwal was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Delhi. AAP formed the government again in the subsequent 2020 Delhi Legislative Assembly election,winning 62 seats.
