Franklin is a town in Franklin Township, Macon County, North Carolina, United States, within the Nantahala National Forest. The population was 3,845 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Macon County. Franklin is an official Appalachian Trail-friendly destination. The Franklin area is rich in gems and minerals and is known locally as the "Gem Capital of The World."

Androscoggin Lake is a body of water located in the towns of Wayne and Leeds, Maine. The surface area of the lake is 3,826 acres (1,548 ha). Its greatest length is 4.5 mi (7.2 km) and its greatest width is 2.8 mi (4.5 km). The lake is very shallow with a mean depth of 15 ft (4.6 m) and maximum depth of 38 ft (12 m). The lake temperature is therefore quite warm during summer, and the temperature is the same on the bottom as it is on the top, making it a homothermous body of water. There are 4 islands on the lake: Androscoggin Island, Blodgett Island, Lothrop Island and Norris Island. The islands support a diverse assemblage of rare species and natural communities. The most extensive areas are along and around the Dead River,(photo) which connects the lake to the Androscoggin River. The islands also provide important nesting habitat for bald eagles, ospreys and great blue herons. Lothrop Island's black sand beaches are of geological interest and are also home to several rare plants.
The dependencies of Guadeloupe are three islands or island groups in the Leeward Islands chain which are administratively part of the neighboring French overseas department of Guadeloupe in the French Lesser Antilles. La Lézarde Rivière is a river of Guadeloupe. 25.5 kilometres (15.8 mi) in length, it is one of the most important rivers in Guadeloupe, which flows into the town of Petit-Bourg and into the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of the island. It bears its name from the way it winds between rocks and the rainforest. The source of the river is in Merwart, at 564 metres (1,850 ft) above sea level, near Icaques, in the municipality of Petit-Bourg. There are sugarcane plantations in the vicinity.
