Acre Thrills is the fourth full-length LP by the Chicago-based experimental rock quartet U.S. Maple. It was released in 2001 by Drag City. The sessions of the album's recording were documented in an accompanying film on YouTube by Tony Ciarrochi.
Spencer Owen, writing for Pitchfork Media, felt that this album "represents a venture into actual melody, at least more so than they've attempted before", likening the result to a "malfunctioning machine that suddenly becomes aware of its existence." [1] Tiny Mixtapes' Tamec explained that the "closest comparison for this music is an arrhythmic Don Caballero with someone moaning and gasping over top of it.". [2] John Fail writing for Fakejazz writes that vocalist Al Johnson has "created another impenetrable mess of words, delivered in a voice that gets raspier with each record." [3]
In the film which documents the recording session, Al Johnson explains his vocal style in terms of diagrams which encircle the lyrics, with black dots representing a 'closed throat' sound (producing a rasp), whereas an unfilled dot would mean the lyric would be more traditionally 'sung'. The rest of the band attempt to explain the process of their songwriting, albeit unsuccessfully. [4]
In an article with Pulse Of The Twin Cities on the supporting tour of Acre Thrills, Johnson was keen to underline the fact that U.S Maple do indeed orchestrate, as opposed to spontaneously improvising, their songs.
I just hope people know that we’re writing songs, that we’re not just up there improvising. That’s not schtick up there. It’s four people communicating. [5]

Fakejazz gave the record full marks, John Fail commenting "can't think of another band today that is really progressing as much from where Beefheart began 30 years ago." [3] Pitchforkmedia were almost equally fulsome with praise, rewarding the album with a 91% score and the statement that "U.S. Maple have finally reached brilliance with Acre Thrills, a gorgeously dangerous combination of everything they've seemed to strive for that now makes them imperfectly perfect." [10]
David Berman of Silver Jews ranked the record in his top five of 2001. [11]

U.S. Maple was an American noise rock band. The group formed in Chicago in 1995. The band consists of Al Johnson, Mark Shippy (guitarist), Pat Samson (drummer), and Todd Rittmann (guitarist).
TNT is the third studio album by American post-rock band Tortoise, released in 1998 by Thrill Jockey. After Jeff Parker joined the band in 1996, Tortoise recorded TNT over the course of a year with drummer John McEntire acting as producer, editor and mixing. Taking influence from their remix material of the 1990s, the band recorded the album using hard disk technology in a "forward-then-back" approach, with members individually adding parts to tracks at different stages until the tracks were completed. As with previous albums, the band members also shared instrumental roles.

Acid Rap is the second mixtape by American rapper Chance the Rapper. It was released on April 30, 2013, as a free digital download. In July 2013, the album debuted at number 63 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, due to bootleg downloads on iTunes and Amazon not affiliated with the artist. The mixtape has been certified "diamond" on mixtape site Datpiff, for garnering over 1,000,000 downloads. It was rereleased on streaming services on June 21, 2019, alongside his 2012 mixtape 10 Day.

Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, better known by his stage name Future, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, he first became involved in music as part of the Dungeon Family collective, where he was nicknamed "the Future". Wrekmeister Harmonies, led by musician and composer JR Robinson, is an experimental music collective. Named after the Béla Tarr movie Werckmeister Harmonies, it combines elements of drone music, serialism, post-rock, and heavy metal. Wrekmeister Harmonies typically performs a single composition, often almost an hour in length, beginning with a slow build, shifting into a cathartic middle section, concluding with either a peaceful or disquieting resolution.

But You Caint Use My Phone is a mixtape by American singer Erykah Badu. It was released on November 27, 2015, by Motown and Control Freaq. Following the release of New Amerykah Part Two (2010), Badu embarked on a five-year hiatus, during which she traveled to Africa in an attempt to record new music, though this never surfaced. After receiving a remix of "Bag Lady" from producer Zach Witness, Badu contacted him in order to record with him. Shortly thereafter, the pair met again and went to Witness's home in Dallas, Texas, and worked in his bedroom studio, where they recorded the album in 11 days. The mixtape features appearances from rapper ItsRoutine and André 3000.

The production on the album was handled by several producers, including: London on da Track, The Mekanics, Soundz, DJ Mustard, Needlz, Vinylz and Frank Dukes, among others. The album features guest appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Jhené Aiko, Migos, Juicy J, YG, Twista, Future, Big Sean, J. Cole and Feather. Late Nights was supported by four singles; "Don't Tell 'Em", "Planez", "Oui" and "Pass Dat".

Pop 2 is the fourth mixtape by English singer and songwriter Charli XCX, released on 15 December 2017 by Asylum Records. Executive produced by A.G. Cook of PC Music, sessions for the mixtape began just several months before its release and featured a wide variety of guest contributions. The project received acclaim from music critics, and was backed by the single "Out of My Head" featuring Alma and Tove Lo. The Mixtape is also known for boosting the profile of a number of LGBT Artists such as Kim Petras and Dorian Electra, who at the time of release were still relatively unknown. This not only helped them breakthrough to a mainstream audience but also solidified Charli's status as one of the Gay Icons of the 21st Century.
