Acidithiobacillus is a genus of the Acidithiobacillia in the "Proteobacteria". The genus includes acidophilic organisms capable of iron and/or sulfur oxidation. Like all "Proteobacteria", Acidithiobacillus spp. are Gram-negative. They are also important generators of acid mine drainage, which is a major environmental problem around the world in mining.

Desulfovirgula is a genus of sulfate reducing, anaerobic, endospore-forming, Gram-positive, thermophilic, motile, rod-shaped bacteria, isolated from an underground mining site in an area of Japan characterized by high geothermal activity.

Actinotalea is a genus in the phylum Actinomycetota (Bacteria). As of 2015 the genus contains four described species, namely A. fermentans, formerly known as Cellulomonas fermentans.

Agrococcus is a genus in the phylum Actinobacteria (Bacteria).

Paraburkholderia ferrariae is a gram-negative, catalase and oxidase-positive, non-spore-forming, bacterium from the genus Paraburkholderia and the family Burkholderiaceae which was isolated from a high phosphorus iron ore in the Minas Gerais State in Brazil. Paraburkholderia ferrariae has the ability to solubilize highly insoluble phosphatic minerals.

Thermanaeromonas is a genus of bacteria within the family Thermoanaerobacteraceae. The type species of this genus is Thermanaeromonas toyohensis, a highly thermophilic anaerobe.

Virgibacillus is a genus of Gram-positive, rod-shaped (bacillus) bacteria and a member of the phylum Firmicutes. Virgibacillus species can be obligate aerobes, or facultative anaerobes and catalase enzyme positive. Under stressful environmental conditions, the bacteria can produce oval or ellipsoidal endospores in terminal, or sometimes subterminal, swollen sporangia. The genus was recently reclassified from the genus Bacillus in 1998 following an analysis of the species V. pantothenticus. Subsequently, a number of new species have been discovered or reclassified as Virgibacillus species.
