Overview

Actualite.cd was created following the impromptu closure of Politico.cd, another political news website in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The website was launched on August 4, 2016, by the journalist Patient Ligodi, co-founder of Politico, with the aim of making a site more powerful, captivating, more responsive and more complete. It mainly deals with three headings, of which it is about politics, economy and security. [1]

The media employs more than fifty journalists covering the news throughout the Congolese territory and is the ninth most visited website in Democratic Republic of Congo according to Alexa Internet [2] [1]

Subdivisions of the Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Third Republic of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is a unitary state with a five-level hierarchy of types of administrative division. There are nine different types of country subdivision in a new hierarchy with no new types but with two from the previous one abolished.

Félix Tshisekedi President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo is a Congolese politician who has been the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 25 January 2019. He is the leader of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS), the DRC's oldest and largest party, succeeding his late father Étienne Tshisekedi in that role, a three-time Prime Minister of Zaire and opposition leader during the reign of Mobutu Sese Seko. Tshisekedi was the UDPS party's candidate for president in the December 2018 general election, which he was awarded, despite accusations of irregularities from several election monitoring organisations and other opposition parties. The Constitutional Court of the DRC upheld his victory after another opposition politician, Martin Fayulu, challenged the result, but Tshisekedi has been accused of making a deal with his predecessor, Joseph Kabila. The election marked the first peaceful transition of power since the state became independent from Belgium in 1960.

Alphonse Maindo Monga Ngonga is a Congolese political scientist. Carbone Beni, by his full name Carbone Beni wa Beya, is a human rights defender, Congolese pro-democracy activist and co-founder of the citizens' movement Filimbi.

Guy Loando Mboyo Congolese politician, Minister of State in charge of Regional Planning

Guy Loando Mboyo is a lawyer, Congolese politician and a member of the Senate of Democratic Republic of the Congo since 2019 who was appointed Minister of State in charge of Regional Planning since April 2021. He is the founder of the Widal Foundation in September 2018.

Gael Bussa Obambule is a Congolese lawyer and politician. He was elected National Deputy in the constituency of Budjala, in the province of South-Ubangi, in the 2018 Democratic Republic of the Congo general election.

On 12 April 2021 she replaced Béatrice Lomeya as Minister for Gender, Family and Children in the Lukonde cabinet.

Christophe Madihano is a Congolese commercial photographer, author, film producer and illustrator whose work focuses on themes of Afrofuturism in culture, identity, and fictional narratives. He is one of the founders of Madi TV, an international entertainment pay television channel in Democratic Republic of the Congo.

In 2022, heavy tensions broke out between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, which have led to several alleged attacks by Congolese and Rwandan forces on each others territory.
