Adam Ivanovich Martyniuk is a Ukrainian politician,one of leaders of the Communist Party of Ukraine who on several occasions served as the first vice-speaker of the Ukrainian parliament.
Martyniuk was born in 1950 in a village of Vetly (Zarohizne khutir),Lyubeshiv Raion near the border with Belarus.
In 1972 he graduated the Lutsk State Pedagogical Institute as a teacher of history and social studies and after that worked as a history teacher in school of Velyka Hlusha,Lyubeshiv Raion. In 1972-76 Martyniuk attended aspirantura of the Institute of Social Studies (today – Krypiakevych Institute of Ukrainian Studies,National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) receiving science degree Candidate of Sciences in history. During that period in 1974-75 he also served in the Soviet Army.
In 1976-81 Martyniuk worked as a scientist for the Institute of Social Sciences. In 1981-88 he worked for the Lviv regional committee of CPU,particularly as a lecturer at the House of Political Science. In 1988-91 Martyniuk held leading positions of the Communist Party in the city of Lviv and was an instructor of ideological department of the Communist Party of Ukraine.
With fall of the Soviet Union,in 1991-93 Martyniuk joined the Socialist Party of Ukraine. During that time he was a security guard in Kyiv for the agrarian company "Ukrayina" and from 1992 the chief editor of newspaper "Tovarishch". With the revival of the Communist Party of Ukraine in 1993,he switched to it and was the chief editor of newspaper "Kommunist" (until 1997). In 1994 he lost in parliamentary elections placing fourth in his electoral district (Lviv Oblast).
In 1998 Martyniuk was finally elected to the Verkhovna Rada as sixths on the party list for the Communist Party of Ukraine. Initially a member of the Communist faction in the parliament,in 1998-2000 he was part of non-affiliated. At the end of 2000 Martyuniuk returned to the faction of Communist Party of Ukraine. Since that time he was elected to the Ukrainian parliament for the next four convocations and was member of Communist faction until 2014.
In 2004 Martyniuk's daughter,Nataliya Adamivna Martyniuk as passenger of government vehicle that was involved in a car accident in result of which died an Olympic runner-up and Ukrainian athlete Alexander Beresch.
For the 2006 elections Martyniuk was second on the party list and on several occasions he held the position of the first vice-speaker of the parliament. In 2007 Martyniuk headed a temporary special commission (TSC) to present changes to the Constitution of Ukraine. In 2012 with regulation infringements,he headed the session of parliament that voted for the law on languages in Ukraine. Martyniuk chaired several parliamentary committees such as on parliamentary regulations (2002–03) and national security and defense (2012–14).
In the October 2014 Ukrainian parliamentary election Martyniuk was second on the Communist party election list;but the party did not seats since it came 1.12% short to overcome the 5% election threshold. [6] [7] [8]
The Communist Party of Ukraine is a banned political party in Ukraine. It was founded in 1993 and claimed to be the successor to the Soviet-era Communist Party of Ukraine,which had been banned in 1991. In 2002 it held a "unification" congress when both "old and new" parties merged. The party is a member of the Moscow-based Union of Communist Parties,an umbrella organisation for all communist parties of the former Soviet Union. The party has been led by Petro Symonenko since it was founded.

Volodymyr Mykhailovych Lytvyn is a Ukrainian politician best known for being Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada,the Ukrainian parliament. Having previously served in that position from 2002 until 2006,he was re-elected in December 2008 after his party agreed to join the former coalition of Yulia Tymoshenko in an expanded capacity and stayed Chairman until December 2012. From 1994 to 1999,Lytvyn was the aide to President Leonid Kuchma and,later,the head of his office.
Petro Mykolayovych Symonenko is a Ukrainian politician and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine. Symonenko was the party's candidate in the 1999 and 2004,2010,and until his withdrawal,the 2014 Ukrainian presidential elections. The Central Election Commission of Ukraine prohibited his candidacy for the 2019 Ukrainian presidential election due to the fact that the statute,name,and symbolism of his party did not comply with the decommunization laws in Ukraine.
Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Moroz is a Ukrainian politician. He was the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada twice,from 1994 to 1998 and again from 2006 to 2007. Moroz is one of the founders and the leader of the Socialist Party of Ukraine,formerly an influential political party in Ukraine. Moroz lost parliamentary representation when the Socialist Party failed to secure sufficient number of votes (2.86%) in the 2007 snap parliamentary election,falling 0.14% short of the 3% election threshold.
Ivan Stepanovych Plyushch was a Ukrainian politician. He thrice served as the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada,from 9 July to 23 July 1990 (acting),from 5 December 1991 to 11 May 1994,and from 1 February 2000 to 14 May 2002.
Mykola Volodymyrovych Tomenko is a Ukrainian politician. He has been a member of Ukraine's parliament,the Verkhovna Rada from 2006 until 2016. In 2014,Tomenko became a member of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc,which elected him to the 8th Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada on its party lists during the 2014 parliamentary election. On 25 March 2016 the party Congress of Petro Poroshenko Bloc removed Tomenko's parliamentary mandate using the Imperative mandate provisions of the Ukrainian constitution. This was considered illegal by Tomenko;on 28 July 2016 Ukraine's highest Administrative Court rejected his appeal to gain back his parliamentary seat.
Oleksandr Mykolaiovych Tkachenko was a Ukrainian politician who served as a People's Deputy of Ukraine from 1994 to 2012,variously representing the Peasant Party of Ukraine and the Communist Party of Ukraine. Between 7 July 1998 and 21 January 2000,Tkachenko was the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada. Awarded with the robe of Prince Yaroslav the Wise.
Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Lavrynovych is a Ukrainian physicist,lawyer,politician,former member of the Supreme Council of Justice of Ukraine,a former Ukrainian member of parliament and former Minister of Justice of Ukraine. He is a Merited Jurist of Ukraine (2003). Volodymyr Vasylyovych Rybak is a Ukrainian politician. He was the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada from 13 December 2012 to 22 February 2014. Volodymyr Rybak is also the original leader of the predecessor of the Party of Regions,the Party of Regional Revival of Ukraine. He is a Merited Builder of Ukraine (1995).
The second Azarov government was the government of Ukraine from 24 December 2012 to 28 January 2014. It was dissolved amidst the Euromaidan protests. The ministers (except Prime Minister Mykola Azarov who was replaced by Deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov,continued briefly as a caretaker government. On 27 February 2014 Ukraine's parliament approved a resolution to formally dismiss the government.
The 7th Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada was a session of the legislative branch of the Verkhovna Rada,Ukraine's parliament. Its composition was based on the results of the 2012 parliamentary election. Half of the seats in the parliament were apportioned between the five winning parties based on the popular vote,while the other half was apportioned between 4 parties and 44 independents between 225 constituencies throughout the country. It first met in the capital Kyiv on December 12,2012,and ended its session on November 27,2014,after the 8th Verkhovna Rada began its first session.
Oleksandr Yefremov or Aleksandr Efremov is a Ukrainian former parliamentarian and politician. A former governor of the Luhansk Oblast,from 2010 until 2014 he was Party of Regions's faction leader in the Verkhovna Rada. On 14 February 2015 Yefremov was detained on suspicion of "abuse of power under aggravating circumstances". This arrest was effectively ended when his bail expired on 1 November 2015. Yefremov was again detained on 30 July 2016 on suspicion of violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity by helping to create the Luhansk People's Republic and misappropriation of property. He was released from prison pending investigation in 2019. Shortly after the February 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine Yefremov moved to Moscow,Russia where he now resides.
