Aditya Birla Public School is an English medium co-educational middle school situated at Doraguda in the Rayagada District. [1]
The Aditya Birla Public School, UAIL, Rayagada, was inaugurated on July 18, 2011, by the Utkal Alumina International Ltd. [2] The school which started in July 2011 with classes from Play Group to Class V, has added classes from VI to VIII and is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The school has 370 students. [3]
The school is located near Doraguda, which is about 70 km from Rayagada, the Administrative Headquarters of Rayagada District, Odisha i.e. nearly 450 km from the state capital, Bhubaneswar. It is connected by rail to Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Visakhapatnam, Koraput, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad. The nearest airport is Vishakhapatnam Airport, 250 km from Oshapada. [4]

Kucheipadar, a village in Kashipur subdivision, Rayagada district, Orissa in India, became famous for its well-known tribal movement opposing the mining proposals made by the Utkal Alumina International Limited (UAIL) in the region which started in 1996. In the mid-1990s, large deposits of bauxite were discovered in the area, simultaneously private companies were given leases of the land by the government without proper consultations. The local tribal residents became aware of the project when in 1996 the UAIL project team went there to conduct a survey. Utmost confusion about the nature of the project, its impact on regional livelihood and the future of residents led the tribals to organise a civil disobedience campaign. The movement later spread to the entire region of Kashipur.
