Field hockey in India is played by the men's national team and the women's national team at the international level. Historically, both the teams are amongst the most successful Indian sports teams.

He has scored the most number of international goals for India in modern day hockey. He led the team to clinch the bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This was his second bronze in three appearances at the Olympics. Singh also captained the team to win a gold at the 2022 Asian Games. He has won the Player of the Year title at the FIH Awards thrice.
The Sultan of Johor Cup is an annual, international under-21 men's field hockey tournament held in Malaysia.

Boby Singh Dhami is an Indian field hockey player from Uttarakhand. He made his senior India debut in April 2024 against Australia in Perth. He plays as a forward for the Food Corporation of India and Hockey Haryana in the domestic tournaments and for Kalinga Lancers in the Hero Hockey India League 2024. He is the first male hockey player from Uttarakhand to play for India.
