Adligat is a civil society organization which operates in the area of culture, arts and furthering the international cooperation of Serbia and the rest of the world. [1] Based in Belgrade, [2] It operates one of the largest privately owned libraries in the Balkans with more than 1 million titles, [3] as well as the Museum of Book and Travel and the Museum of Serbian literature.

History

The core of the organization is the personal library of Lazić family, which was founded in 1882 in Vojvodina. [4] The Lazić library and the whole Adligat are run by the writer and world traveller Viktor Lazić who is the ninth generation [5] of the family to manage the library as well as the board of the organization. [6]

A number of academics and scholars are part of Adligat, including Vladeta Jerotić, Miodrag Pavlović, Filip David, Ljubivoje Ršumović, Ljubomir Simović, Emir Kusturica, Milovan Danojlić, Matija Bećković and others. [7]

The two museum hold a number of valuable artefacts, including the letters of Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, [8] personal belongings of Serbian kings, the actor Pavle Vuisić, [9] [10] writer Miloš Crnjanski, Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andrić, [11] voivode Živojin Mišić, [12] poet Vojislav Ilić, [13] painter Uroš Predić, more than 120.000 stamps, [14] 3000 coins and banknotes, a vast collection of rare books and numerous other possessions. <i>NIN</i> Award Serbian literary award

The NIN Award, officially the Award for Best Novel of the Year, is a prestigious Serbian literary award established in 1954 by the NIN weekly and is given annually for the best newly published novel written in Serbian. The award is presented every year in January by a panel of writers and critics. In addition to being a highly acclaimed award capable of transforming writers' literary careers, the award is also sought after because it virtually assures bestseller status for the winning novel. The literary website complete review called it the "leading Serbian literary prize" in 2012.

The ATLAS-TIM AT 32 was the process computer developed by Mihajlo Pupin Institute in Belgrade in the 1980s. The designers were Dr Vukasin Masnikosa, Dr Bozidar Levi, Mr Milenko Nikolic and their associates. Professor Bozidar Levi with 2 coauthors got the Nikola Tesla award for his ATLAS design in 1988.

Viktor Lazić is one of Serbia's most well known modern travel writers and a lawyer. Viktor is a PhD candidate of Ancient Chinese law, authorized translator, holder of a tour guide license, Ambassador of the Serbian Bibliophilic Society, was associate of the Geographical Institute "Jovan Cvijić" of Serbian Academy of Science and Arts (2009–2011), philatelist and numismatist. He is founder and president of the Society for Culture, Art and International Cooperation "Adligat", CEO of Library Lazic, Book and Travel Museum and Museum of Serbian Literature within this Association. He is a member of the Association of Writers of Serbia.
