Adolf Weich Malan (born 6 September 1961) is a former South African rugby union player. [1] He played 159 matches for Northern Transvaal. His usual position was as lock, where he also played for the national team, the Springboks.
Malan made his debut for South Africa on 26 August 1989 against a World XV team. The match was played at Newlands in Cape Town, and Malan started at lock, with the Springboks winning 20 to 19. He played in the subsequent test against the World XV, which was won 22 to 16 at Ellis Park.
Malan next played for the Springboks in 1992, when he earned five international caps for South Africa, the first of which was against the All Blacks at Ellis Park, which the Springboks lost 24 to 27, as well as the following test against Australia. He then played in two tests against France in France, winning one and losing one. Malan's last test was on 14 November 1992 against England. [2] [3] Malan was known as a strong ball winner in the line–out.

In 2000 he was inducted into the University of Pretoria Hall of fame. [4]
Malan and his lock partner against the World XV, Niel Hugo had the honour of being the tallest Springbok players at 2.04m. [3] In 2008 Andries Bekker became the tallest Springbok, at 2.08m. [5]
Gary Hamilton Teichmann is a retired South African professional rugby union player. He played number eight and captained the South African national team, the Springboks, between 1995 and 1999.
John William Smit, OIS, is a former South African rugby union player and former chief executive officer of the Sharks. Victor Matfield is a South African former professional rugby union player. He played for and captained the South Africa national team (Springboks) as well as the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup and the Bulls franchise in Super Rugby. He is generally considered one of the best locks to have ever played for South Africa and had a long successful partnership with Springbok and Blue Bulls teammate Bakkies Botha.
Louis Christiaan Moolman was a Northern Transvaal and Springboks Rugby Union player. He was born in Pretoria, South Africa and went to school at Hoërskool Verwoerdburg. He played in the lock position.
Morné du Plessis OIS is a former South African rugby union player often described as one of the Springboks' most successful captains. During the five years from 1975 to 1980 that he served as captain, the Springboks won 13 of 15 matches, giving Du Plessis an 86.66% success rate as captain.

Jan Hendrik Ellis was a South African rugby union player who represented the Springboks in 38 tests, which at his retirement in 1976 was a record. His 7 test tries equalled Ferdie Bergh's record for forwards and were only surpassed in 1997 by Mark Andrews' 12 tries. Playing on the flank, Ellis was instantly recognisable on the field due to his red hair and uncompromising playing style. Among three Springboks invited to participate in the first unofficial rugby sevens world cup in 1973, he was ranked in 2003 as the 12th greatest Springbok of all time.
