Afoa Amituanai Faleulu Mauli is a Samoan politician and member of the Legislative Assembly of Samoa. He is a member of the Human Rights Protection Party.
Mauli was born in Sinamoga. [1] He worked in a bank and studied with the Samoa Institute of Accounting to become an accountant, before working for the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. [1] In 2008 he successfully sued the university for defamation after a report criticised him for inadequately performing as financial manager. [2] He later studied at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, and joined the New Zealand Institute of Accountants. [1] He runs a motel and nightclub in Apia. From 2012 to 2016 he was chair of the Samoa Tourism Authority. [1]
He unsuccessfully ran for Parliament in the 2006 and 2011 elections, before being elected in 2016. [1] In May 2020, at the urging of his constituency, he was one of the few government MPs to speak out against the Land and Titles Bill. [3]
In February 2021, Mauli claimed in the Samoan Parliament that the COVID-19 pandemic was a "hoax" and vaccines are "poison". [4] He subsequently lost his seat in the 2021 election
Tuila'epa Lupesoliai Neioti Aiono Sa'ilele Malielegaoi is a Samoan politician who has served as leader of the Human Rights Protection Party and the Prime Minister of Samoa since 1998. However, since 24 May 2021 his claim to the office of prime minister has been the matter of a dispute, as it is also claimed by Naomi Mataʻafa, whose party formed a parliamentary majority after the 2021 election. Tuilaepa first entered parliament in 1981 when he won a by-election to represent the electorate of Lepa. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in the government of former Prime Minister Tofilau Eti Alesana, and in addition also held the portfolios of Tourism and Trade, Commerce & Industry.
Fiame Naomi Mataʻafa is a Samoan politician and High Chiefess (matai) who is serving as the leader of the Fa'atuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party. Since 24 May 2021, she has been one of the two rival claimants to the office of Prime Minister of Samoa, along with Tuila'epa Sailele Malielegaoi. She was Samoa's first female Cabinet Minister, and from 2016 to 2020 served as Samoa's first female Deputy Prime Minister. She is a former member of the Human Rights Protection Party.

In March 2021, Naomi Mataʻafa, a former member of the ruling Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) and a former Deputy Prime Minister, was elected to lead the main opposition party, Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST). Tuilaepa led the HRPP into the election.
