Agbor is the most populous city of approximately 67,610 among the Ika people. [1] It is located in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, in South-south geo-political zone of Nigeria, West Africa. [2] Agbor is the headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area, in Delta State, Nigeria. [3] The major language in Agbor is the Agbor dialect of Ika. Many people believe[ vague ] that the Agbor people speak Ika an Edoid language.

The traditional ruler (Dein of Agbor) is Dein Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi I. The Agbor kingdom is one of the oldest in delta state tracing back over 1,500 years ago.

Renovations on the University of Delta (previously known as college of Education) in 2021 [4] has led to Agbor being classified as a college town. [5]

Delta State is a state in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Named after the Niger Delta—a large part of which is in the state—the state was formed from the former Bendel State, on 27 August 1991. Bordered on the north by Edo State, the east by Anambra and Rivers states, and that south by Bayelsa State while to the west is the Bight of Benin which covers about 160 kilometres of the state's coastline. The Ika people are an indegious group found primarily in Delta State & Edo State, Nigeria. The Ika people have just two(2) Local Governments; Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas of Delta State, and Igbanke and Ekpon areas of Orhionmwon, Uhunmwonde and Igueben Local Government Areas in Edo State. The Ikas share ancestorial relation with the present day EDOs, Benin, the Binis in Edo State Nigeria.

The Ujevwu–Itakpe Railway is a standard gauge railway in Nigeria that connects the port city of Warri to the inland town of Itakpe. Construction began in 1987 on an industrial railway to supply the Ajaokuta Steel Mill with iron ore and coal. After a protracted construction period of more than 30 years, the railway was finally inaugurated in 2020 as a mixed freight and passenger line. Construction is underway on an extension to Abuja, where it will connect to the Lagos–Kano Standard Gauge Railway.

The 2015 Delta State gubernatorial election was the 7th gubernatorial election of Delta State. Held on April 11, 2015, the People's Democratic Party nominee Ifeanyi Okowa won the election, defeating Great Ogboru of the LP.

The 2023 Delta State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Delta State, concurrent with elections to the Delta State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
