Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden, University of Agder (Norwegian :Naturmuseum og botanisk hage, Universitetet i Agder, formerly Kristiansand Museum and Agder Natural History Museum) is the only natural history museum on the Southern Coast of Norway, [1] located in Kristiansand in Vest-Agder County.
The museum known as Kristiansand Museum was founded in 1828 as part of Kristiansand Katedralskole. The current museum and botanical garden is run by the University of Agder.
Today the natural history museum and botanical garden are located in the former farm Gimle Gård, with the museum in the outbuildings and the former park serving as a botanical garden. The former manor house of Gimle Gård also houses a museum which is part of Vest-Agder-Museum (Vest-Agder-museet) . [2] [3]
The permanent exhibits are from the early 1990s. The museum's current exhibition space was opened by the then Crown Prince Harald 26 June 1990. Focus is placed on the topics: "from the Ice Age to the Present" and "from sea to the mountains". In addition, an exhibition on "minerals and rocks". In addition to these, exhibitions are shown in limited periods. [4]
Botanical garden consists of plants both outside and indoors. [5] Inside there is the largest collection of succulents in Norway, the issues are many and varied. Themes vary from year to year. The botanical garden is a source of knowledge, beauty, adventure and of course recreation, and includes all green spaces of Gimle Gård.
Botanical Garden consists of exotic pitcher plants framing the garden, carnivorous plants, herbs, nectar garden and a popular children's playground.
The garden contains various plant collections. There is an old park in the free English landscape style, historic rose garden, rose garden and modern roses, South Norwegian rose garden, millenniumgarden, conifers collection (arboretum), shrubs and trees at the museum's parking lot (lignoses), perennials, rock garden, pond with water plants, heather garden and a collection of Rhododendron.
Vest-Agder[ˈvɛ̂stˌɑɡdər](listen)(West Agder) was one of 18 counties (fylker) in Norway up until 1 January 2020, when it was merged with Aust-Agder to form Agder county. Kristiansand Cathedral School, known in Latin as Schola Christiansandensis, is a high school in Kristiansand, Agder, Norway. It is the oldest high school on the southern coast of Norway, having been founded in 1686. Originally, the school was located near the cathedral in the center of the town of Kristiansand. Although it represents an old institution, Katta is a modern school, offering courses in general and business studies, as well as in health and care. It has an exclusive collection of paintings donated by former student Reidar Wennesland, and some antique books.
The NTNU University Museum in Trondheim is one of seven Norwegian university museums with natural and cultural history collections and exhibits. The museum has research and administrative responsibility over archaeology and biology in Central Norway. Additionally, the museum operates comprehensive community outreach programs and has exhibits in wooden buildings in Kalvskinnet.
Carll Goodpasture is an American cytogenetics expert, entomologist, and photographer. He has written many books and has also been a contributor on others with his photographs. He is constantly working in his Norwegian Shore project. He is also well known for his pinhole camera photos. He married Norwegian Gro Heining (artist) in 1987.

Vollevannet is a freshwater lake in the municipality of Kristiansand in Agder county, Norway. The 0.15-square-kilometre (37-acre) lies in the district of Gimlekollen in the borough of Lund, and the surrounding residential area is also called Vollevannet. The lake lies along the European route E18 highway at the exit for the Vest-Agder Museum Kristiansand and Ålefjær. Historically, the lake was used as a reservoir for the city's drinking water. The lake is held back by two dams, and there is a small, sandy beach at the northeast end of the lake. The lake has perch in it.

The Botanical Garden St. Gallen is located in Stephanshornstrasse 4, Neudorf, St. Gallen. It features 8000 labeled plants from all over the world in its open-air displays and several greenhouses. The park and the greenhouses are accessible free of charge during opening hours.
